Put this on the recruiting board but How do you go about getting a HS player seen/evaluated by the coaching staff? I know a kid that was a starting WR as Sophomore. Parents are not into football and the kid runs a 4.6 and has made some incredible catches. Any info would be appreciated.

Send video to the coaches. I hand delivered it.

When I was coaching I took players to camps at different colleges. As many as possible. We had kids get offers right there and some the college coaches showed interest in and invited them back to further evaluate.

And like Texas said send in tape. And like he did it is best to hand it to them personally.

4.6 is not P4/SEC speed for WR.

Even as a sophomore? I figured the speed will go down. Also, which coaches should we approach? Recruiting General Manager?

Camps and tournaments seem to be the best way to get noticed by individual coaches & scouts - at least as someone watching from a distance.

Especially if the kid is playing at a small school or lower level that doesn't get a lot of attention, the camps and tournaments are a chance to show what they can do outside of their local competition.

My son just committed to a D1 school for track and field (sadly not gonna be an Aggie). He primarily used Instagram, starting about his sophomore year to document progress/achievements in practice, weightroom, competition and in classroom. If he got something like All-American, lifting goal or pb he would tag coaches at schools he was interested in and eventually they noticed. He also would reach out directly to coaches and it was really useful to quickly tell his story and getting OVs, etc. For football there is more competiton. Need to have body and talent. Be realistic. make sure to have a good relationship with HS coach, it matters. As a hs coach if a recruiter asks me about a kid, im not going to sugar coat if they are a problem. never too soon to make a good name. Hit the camps, 7 on 7 etc to network. Be sure to get his hudl film from your staff and market that as well. Not just highlights but show the work snd improvement. Play muktiple sports. Dont forget JUCO, D2 3 as well.

For a freshman? Yeah it is plenty fast.
