Both Miami and The Ags have good players. How well the coaches do will determine who wins this game. Mario Cristobal has been very shaky in big games and has made some pretty bad in game mistakes as HC. Elko has had some shaky halves where we looked unprepared and the worst was the 2nd half of our last game. If we out coach them we will beat them. I like Elko to come up with a great plan that leads to Qb mistakes and an Aggie win.

We've made adjustments early. Need to do so again. I expect some unexpected exotic crap from Miami and I hope we have some cards up our sleeve as well.

I think we lost against tu because Elko made defensive adjustments at half that weren't needed.

Yes. Why we stopped putting pressure on that derpy QB of theirs will forever baffle me. No spy on him and as a result we made him look like a Heisman candidate. Complete embarrassment.

Make adjustments if they are necessary, but if something is working don't "adjust" just for adjustment sake. Best example is if we are getting 4+ yards running the ball, keep running the ball.

The plays are there, we just need to execute…..

That's a problem with having an ex QB as OC they can't help themselves and sometimes have to throw the ball, run the damn ball !!

Can you explain to me how a LB not fitting the run properly is an in game coaching issue?

close games typically are determined by turnovers and special teams.

what i do see in our favor is the quarterbacks that have given us the most trouble are the ones who could scramble to buy time. stuff the run make Beck beat you. he will make a mistake

From offensive side of ball i hope we do what we have done most of the year. Play to our strengths and not necessarily get cute on ways we think we can attack D. Like against texas. Klein attack that game must have been designed to take advantage of texas holes because it looked different, but it didnt work.

And now we have part time OC...just do what we have all year and do it cleaner.

I WORRY FAR FAR more about Klein.

If you just received a $4.3M annual contract and had an entire roster to complete....how distracted would you be?

Only human nature but having Klein as OC while also doing Kansas St HC duties.....thats a tough ask.

Scares the crap out of me and hopefully Elko is mitigating in some way. If thats even possible.

He should have been dismissed the moment it was announced that he signed a deal with K-State

Disagree.

If Klein was coming back next year, I agree it would be less of a concern, but kicking him out would put us in a worse situation than whatever capacity he is able to give us. It'd be putting your team in a worse position out of, essentially, spite.

Makes no sense.

Other teams are letting their coordinators coach in the playoffs before moving on to new HC gigs as well because it is generally still preferred to losing them entirely.

As far as the game, it's going to come down to whether we play focus, dialed in football.

When we do, we're damn good.

When we don't, we let bad teams hang around until halftime (MSU, Florida) or find ourselves behind (USC).

I think our guys need to trust the calls and take what is available. If Reed comes out looking to make things happen, we're screwed. If he comes out taking the open 5 yard plays (with short throws or runs) , throws the ball away if nothing is available, etc. then we'll be in good shape.

This team is at its absolute best when we're taking consistent, easy yards and letting the big play come out of that. We're not very good when we're playing video game football and holding the ball too long waiting for the big play.

Honestly I think our coaching has been mostly fine. If by coaching you mean play calling.

If by coaching you mean the coaches have the kids ready to play then I agree.

I think our biggest problem has been not being aggressive enough going out there with killer instinct. The coaches need to make sure our players are awake and ready to go out there and fly around like Georgia does.

Marcel decision making is going to be the main factor for me. He has been putting the ball in harms way too many times this back half of the season.
That and not giving up chunk plays in the run game.

I am worried about coaching … think 1st half of USC game exposed our offense and Reed and think tu emulated it. Of course could be wrong and blame play calling and inept offensive game plan. Still stumped with run defense and why on 2 to 4 plays a game we give up huge chunks of yardage up the middle…and of course stupid penalties .. killed us in tu game and thinks safe to say kept over 50pts off the board … That's all coaching and Elko now paid like a Top 5 HC he needs to show it starting on the 20th

He has to use his legs. This either needs to be by play design or in the scramble game. On defense, our LBs and safeties have to fit the run better.

Tu started running gap scheme instead of zone runs. Our backers weren't fitting correctly with what the secondary was doing. Some were bad fits but some was scheme. Sark went trips with TE backside and unbalanced and we didn't adjust to it. That is on the defensive staff.

There are ZERO excuses anymore. The Head Cheese is running the defense, GET IT DONE. The offense is where I see the struggle coming. As long as Albert Einklein is calling the plays, we are at a disadvantage. Cut his ass loose, NOTHING good can come from him coaching this offense and calling the plays in the playoffs.

maybe you've never played sports or maybe you have, but you always want to win.

No matter how much money is on the line, you always want to win especially with a championship on the line. Period.

How distracted would I be competing for a national title that, if I win, I can use to recruit players to my new school?

How distracted would I be to earn a bonus (I'm assuming) by winning playoff games?

How distracted would I be from proving myself on the biggest stage of college football and making a real name for myself as an offensive genius?

Not very distracted at all, to be honest.

Did anybody ever step back to think that if Klein was distracted in the game against Texas, it might be because he was negotiating a contract? That's settled. He got his bag. Now he gets to set his legacy.

I haven't rewatched but are you saying we were misaligned or not gap sound schematically?

Edit: just rewatched some highlights and we got hit for a big run on an inside zone play in the 1st half because LBs misfit the interior and an outside zone because a safety missed an alley tackle. 2nd half we got hit on buck sweep twice because LBs are too slow and/or wont scrape over blockers and once on power because the end capped the puller and both LBs ran into the same gap and were blocked by the TE or H (couldn't tell where he started as clip started mid play). Oh and QB draw killed us all day because LBs couldn't tackle Manning in the hole. I am still not sure what could have been done mid-game beside blitz more but that could come back t9 get you against the outside run game.

Part of developing your coaching staff is to allow them opportunities to step up. Yes, sometimes they don't perform, but you have to give them the chances to understand their potential (and limitations).

To that end, I assume that Wiggins is taking a greater role in building the game plan, with oversight from Klein.

With all the lead time these staffs have for this game it's going to be interesting to see how they come out of the gate . Normally I would say we tend to win the halftime adjustments but then again that wasn't true vs tu.

I think turnovers will be a key factor. Whoever wins that battle probably wins the game.
