I am surprised there is almost zero talk about OC candidates. I keep hearing about Wiggins being promoted but I kinda feel like that's a mistake without a very thorough national search.

I liked the youth and vigor of Klein. I know Wiggins is also named Co-OC for his future. But feel at only 2 years under Klein, it isn't enough.

Certainly do not want to loss him as excellent WR coach and recruiter but at what cost to the offense?

Tough position for Elko. I would prefer to see him give Wiggins some guarantee at next OC opening but fill this current vacancy with a known and upcoming commodity.

Figure the OC stuff out as you go or after the season. This is our opportunity. Might not get another one seeing as the rules change in favor of team like ND and good football teams like Texas Tech will be favored by 30+ points in every game they play in 2026. This is it.

If you're not okay with him today why on earth would you guarantee him the next spot? You have no idea when that will be and what we'll look like.

I would prefer a national search with a known play calling quantity, but I'm not going to sweat it if Elko feels like Wiggins is up to the task.

It is only about our future success for the coming years....

I get that everyone cares far more about CFP. But Elko certainly isn't ignoring this till post season. And I know Klein isnt ignoring his coach staff needs either...all while trying to also be our OC.

I expect Elko to have his man prior to CFP ending and making that announcement almost immediately following any season ending loss.

Vital to recruiting too. But yes....let's ignore it. Lol

There might be 3 people who post here who have an opinion based upon actual knowledge of the sport and the situation at Bright.

Transfer portal open today through 12/28. If you had a strong candidate lined up, now would be the time to announce it. A lot of players are expected to return, but definitely some leaving for the draft or graduating.

The OC hire (or promotion) is a major decision, but one that can be made in the offseason. In his press conference, Elko basically said that he has a basic offensive philosophy that he wants and that the new OC will put their own twist on it.

However, we're in our first ever playoff opportunity and I sincerely hope that all of Elko's time and energy is focused on that right now.

I think Trev is running to a budget and Elko gets to propose candidates. Wiggins might be an interim or might be permanent but it should be Elko's decision.

I just know that this distraction greatly reduces whatever chance we had in the playoffs. Klein had some wtf moments in games. Now he has to be less focused on A&M.

Every decent head coach has three or so OC and DC candidates at the ready all the time.

I'm not a Klein super fan, AT ALL, but how in the world could you know that to a degree it would have any measurable effect on his performance?

We like when A&M wins. Coaches and coordinators REALLY like winning. As in: They really hate losing. Hard for me to believe Klein, or any coordinators, are content being the face of a poor performance, whatever the potential 'distraction.'

Very good chance Wggins is promoted and keep an eye on Warren Ruggerio as our QB coach.

We're going to hire the OC from Georgia Tech and Haynes King will return as a grad assistant.

That guy doesn't know anything. It's just being lazy to blame A&M's performance on Klein being distracted with the K-State job.

I can't imagine who of any worth would be left to choose. At this point, we'll be getting sloppy seconds … or thirds.

Rumor is we are poaching Navy's OC and going full triple option next year.

Are you in the main stream media? Because that is fake news.

The portal dates are not until January 2-16 with an extra window for CFP participants.

I'm certainly glad Elko knows more about the portal than you do- especially when it opens.
Also, why does he "…have to announce it…)? As long as the players he's pursuing knows, no one else matters.

Buckeye fans upset. They think they lost to IU because their OC was distracted after accepting head coach job at USF and wasn't focused on the game.

Tulane and James Madison won their games with their head coaches heading to Florida and UCLA, respectively.

I've never understood why all these coaching changes happen before bowls and playoffs.
