This was a great interview and would love to get him here to coach and recruit. Him and Tommy would build a huge D-Line.

The funniest bit was them talking about the SEC being NIL before NIL. Coach Geaux said the difference was we used to have to take the cash and go through the back door. Now we just take the cash and walk through the front door. Pretty funny stuff.

best episode yet. as an Ag that lived in Baton Rouge during his tenure there, I hated everything about LSU except him.

He was their only coach without an accent.

Kind of crazy that more people didn't go to prison for the money laundering that took place in college football.

I thought another wrinkle in the AP story is we had a fairly good inside track on him until we fired RC (which also ousted Sumlin on staff who was recruiting Houston/AP at the time).

Sumlin ended up at Oklahoma and took all of APs recruiting momentum up there with him.

Oh what could have been...

Quote:

The NCAA sent a stern message to Texas A&M, taking the unusual step of placing the school on probation for five years as a result of rules violations involving the Aggies' football program.

Only Southeastern Louisiana and Upsala (N.J.) College have received probationary periods of a similar duration from the NCAA. Despite the lengthy probation, Texas A&M was given relatively light sanctions by the NCAA Committee on Infractions, which issued its ruling after a yearlong investigation by the NCAA enforcement staff and university officials. The Aggie football team was barred from playing in a bowl or TV appearances next season. However, Texas A&M was spared other sanctions, such as cuts in scholarships and recruiting visits.

Texas A&M players were found to have benefited from a scheme in which a booster arranged jobs requiring little or no work. The Aggies, Southwest Conference champions the last three years, finished the 1993 season 10-2 after a 24-21 loss to Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl.

Nine Aggie players, including star tailback Greg Hill, were found to have received nearly $18,000 in unearned wages from 1990-92 as a result of their employment at apartment complexes operated by Warren A. Gilbert Jr., a Dallas developer. The NCAA also found that the university showed a lack of institutional control over its football program by failing to monitor appropriately its jobs program for athletes.

Texas A&M could have received the NCAA's so-called "death penalty" for repeat violators. However, the committee backed off because of the limited scope of the infractions and the university's attempt to investigate fully.

Irony is poor Jimbo implied the same being done by saban at lsu and why he won then (after Saban made attacking stmts that a&m paid for their class). Then the world attacked Jimbo when he was right about how dirty saban has always been and should keep his mouth shut. It's what started Kiffins constant online attacks of Jimbo dare saying anything detrimental about saban.
