Coaches are paid to solve problems. In my view, Elko gets high marks this year. We struggled last year in pass coverage, explosive plays from WRs and basically no depth at TE. Each improved dramatically this year. Elko took responsibility for defensive play calling and zone defense in pass coverage following the bowl meltdown last year. We lost Noah Thomas in the portal and replaced him with two really explosive players. TE blocking struggled last year. We added significant beef at the position this year. Elko is in year two. It took Mack eight years to win the Big XII at Texas. Kirby two years to win the SEC at UGA and then an extended drought by Kirby standards. Of course, the perpetual complainers are always going to complain. We haven't won conference title since 1998. Elko has us moving in the right direction. Give time, I think he will succeed despite the rampant naysayers.
