This. Bateman would call plays if Elko thought Bateman was the right guy to call plays. We saw what Elko thought of last year's defensive results in his immediate response to the bowl game, and in taking over the play calling this year. I have a hard time feeling concern about the defense during the playoff, beyond the concern I already had from Elko ****ting the bed in the second half vs Texas.

Elko will give a good DC full control. Like others have said Elko does not want to call the defense.

Hemphill is a perfect fit for what Elko wants to do. The question now is how will he do calling plays at the SEC level.
