You would think that they might be able to come close to filling up the stadium when both schools are in the same state. Geez.......

Bowls are solely for TV audiences, not physical audiences.

A 25k seat stadium, and their pregame parachutist missed it. He apparently landed on the baseball diamond next door.

This game was intense from start to finish, and Jacksonville State defeated Troy 17-13 to finish 9-5, their 3rd consecutive 9-win season since joining the FBS in 2023.

Hope the teams enjoyed it,
Obviously athletic Dept need to do a better job of getting fans to the game.

But K-12 school is still going this week with the older kids taking finals. The 10 days leading up to Christmas is already massively over scheduled for most people

Someone was brainstorming that the solution to bad bowl game attendance to schedule it during week Zero which would solve the players and schools opting outs and give the selection process one more data point to consider as they try and determine who should be in the end of year playoffs

JV State is in this nice spot where they're just good enough win in the CUSA but not enough to get raided for it.

Just last year Jax St lost their head coach as well as 7 players to the Power 4...

I heard David Nuno bring it up last week and took some time to expand on it. Josh Pate was even bouncing it around last night on his show.

Is it a perfect solution? Absolutely not. Is there some weirdness that kids that "earned" the game may have already moved on to other programs or NFL? Yes. Does it make the games matter as they're now part of the regular season record for the year? Yes.

some of yall have not figured out yet why the bowls exist....$$$$

If they were losing money due to poor attendance there would be less bowls and less sponsors.
There are more.

As the guy above said " Bowls are not intended for physical attendance but rather TV Viewership".

Nobody within the bowl system is considering moving the games to September at this point in time.

These minor bowl games are owned and dreamed up by ESPN. They have to fill programming.

Interesting that the ones that are complaining about poor attendance are usually the ones that did not attend. I admit that I like being in Kyle when it is packed and loud, but not every school has the fan base we have. It doesn't mean it can't be a great game or important. If the attendance at this bowl game bothers you, then you should have seen the attendance for the Tarleton State playoff game this past weekend.

Bowl games are going the way of the dodo since the CFP system started. The more it expands, the more obsolete bowl games will become.

This is not necessarily a bad thing.

I may be mistaken, but I think some programs have lost money on bowls. The schools are required to purchase a certain # of tickets and if they can't sell them they get stuck eating them.

Some programs lose money, but the bowls themselves i.e. ESPN make money

Bingo! ESPN owns most of them, and it's the tv ratings that drive the revenue, not ticket sales.

Which games would get better attendance with higher ticket prices over a 2-year span?

ND at Texas A&M at Kyle
A&M at ND at the House Rockne Built

or those same games, except played in Orlando, FL or Pasadena?

No team should give up a home game, even one every other year, for a random neutral site game, especially when students have returned to campus and are actually excited to attend football games.

Bowl games, like typewriters, overhead projectors and answering machines, served their purpose and have been replaced.
