Evidently the only way a FG is reviewable is if it is NOT above the uprights - which would be the only reason that one would need to be reviewed.

Potential scenario - a FG goes right next to the top of an upright and is called wide. They review it and see that it was actually inside the upright, but also slighty above it. So upon further review, the field goal was good, but the review would show that the play was unreviewable. Call stands.

In college, if the ball is higher than the upright and any part of the ball passes over the upright, it is no good.

Like every other football game of meaning… don't leave it up to the refs. Leave no doubt.

Viewers who think they know better from limited camera angles than the trained professional standing directly below the upright.

The only way replay would actually help is if the ref standing there had a go pro on his hat.

You're calling the fat, old goober looking straight up a trained professional?

I love football, but the goobers they find to officiate the games are just dudes trying to do their best. Who knows how good that guy's vision is. He might not even have officiated a play exactly like that before.

Seems like it'd be super cheap to install lasers pointing up from the tops of the goalposts and then you'd know 100% if the ball went inside or over the top. We wouldn't have rely on a 60 year old dude squinting.

Uprights should have a crossbar that the kicker has to kick the ball through. No doubt there.

Are you serious? Instant replay on a kick attempt would definitely be more definitive than the boomer standing under the uprights.

Strange reply.
Most officials are not that old and not fat and usually have good eye site.
