ESPN College GameDay has been to College Station 9 times. We are 1-8 in those games, and 6 of those 8 losses were by 7 points or fewer. The only win was 45-38 2-OT win over Tennessee on 10/8/2016, and I was at that game.

Because we're never as good as we think we are.
In those matchups, how many times were we favored?

We're notorious for thinking "we're right on the cusp", even though there's no evidence of it.
We're not sending 10+ draft picks to the NFL every year. Instead we send 3, maybe 4.

Then we get pissed we're not winning Nattys? We don't have the horses. Recruiting is part of it, portal can help, but if you're not developing your players into NFL prospects, you'll still be behind the actual contenders.
