How were these 2 teams able to nullify Howell when every other team could not? I think he made one big play against tu and nothing significant today.

We needed him to show up big in both games.

You know he was up against a 1st team all American and the top NFL draft prospect lineman. Miami also only threw the ball 21 times all game.

I don't think any blame can be put on the defense. They played their ass off. Probably their best game of the year. Point your finger elsewhere.

We are a good not elite Defense, with great schemes and blitz packages. Elko is a great Defensive coach.

I said this on another thread...take a page from Tech and get elite Dline and LBs through the Portal. Tech transformed their program in one year.

I agree. Just trying to understand how they shut him down.

They did some quick passes. They also focused on him but it allowed others to go free to get pressure on the QB. I think just because he didn't have game stats doesn't mean he didn't have an impact.

I would have to watch the game again and just look at his performance to see exactly. But I'm not going to put myself through that misery

Doing what he was supposed to be doing. Holding his own against a first rounder.

That tacckle is probably the biggest and longest armed tackle in ncaa. Literally the biggest guy on the field on both sides of the ball.

Will be just as big or bigger than anyone during their next game as well. 6'9' 340 OT

This! The offense did nothing to help! Nothing. Special teams were awful. Defense gave it everything until that last drive.

Did he even play? I seriously don't recall seeing him or hearing his name mentioned even once

I didn't see Scooby either. Howell was not a factor.

Actually we had more total yards and won time of possession.

Sure the D played well. But I was mad at the D when they were well-rested and gave up that long drive for a game losing TD.

Don't know why there is always argument of which side performed better. Who cares, I just want to win. Point is, we needed the D to make a stop at the end and they didn't. Just like we needed the O to score some points all game and they didn't.

Not THE problem. (O was obviously terrible) But certainly a problem to give up an 86-yard TD drive at the end when really D was well-rested.

Also letting their RB go off for near 200 yards is a problem.

the only stat that really matters is scoring. Yes TOP and yards mater, but the Ags failed to score with multiple trips inside the 20. That is awful.

Defense still can't stop the run.

We can most of the time but when we "guess" wrong we get burned for big gains. That suggests to me that we scheme to mitigate a weakness. Hope we get this fixed this off season.

We've been gashed in the past 2 games. The tu back for 155yds, and Fletcher today for 178yds.
