There's a host of variables that affected this Cotton Bowl but damn, A&M and that 30 mile an hour wind turned out to be a tougher match than Ohio State was. A&M's run defense was better as well.

Definitely should make those of us who are pessimistic (me included) to reevaluate the extent to which we fell apart at the end of the season.

Next year will be better.

Again this should NOT surprise anyone. We will always get ****ty deals. We have to learn to win anyway.

Miami is a lot better team than most people thought going into the playoffs. The main differentiator is coaching. Cristobal is a much better coach than he gets credit for. He's great at exposing his opponents weaknesses. He also doesn't force anything. Carson Beck has always been known for throwing a couple dumb picks in big games and he has seemed very reserved in the playoffs so far.

I've never understood this line of thinking. You have to be able to beat anyone and everyone in the playoffs. The only way this makes sense is if you just want to win at least 1 game before you are eliminated. Beat ANYONE, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE.

Would have helped to have Moss full strength in game 2 if we were the 6th seed. I think it was a ratings thing. Anybody know the numbers on that game?

All of sports has turned to ratings and Draftkings.

A&M 326y 21-1stDowns 3 points
Miami 278y 12-1stDowns 10 points

OSU 332y 18-1stDowns 14 points
Miami 291y 18-1stDowns 24 points

These 3 teams are evenly matched but Cristobal and Beck and the Miami defense found a way to finish. Miami is peaking at the right time.

And winning consistently will lead to better draws.

miami is now 6-0 vs ranked teams. they have beaten notre dame, texas a&m, and now ohio st as part of those 6 wins.

to me miami is a team peaking at the right time who plays to the level of their competition. they play elite teams they play at an elite level.

The trenches are where they won. I don't know where we sit on NIL for linemen, but we need to pour it out and try to get the best 2 deep on both sides of the ball that we can. I'm talking starters 1A and 1B deep.
That's where time to throw and running game success come from, and where DL stop both of those on the other side of the ball. It's as simple as that.

Crazy they beat both A&M and Miami with Beck doing next to nothing. 103 passing yards and -6 rushing yards against us. 138 passing yards and 23 rushing yards last night against OSU.

Curious how many CFP teams have won one game, let alone two with their QB throwing for less than 150 yards.

What is worse:
- Loss to Texas, wins against Notre Dame, Mizzou, and LSU
- Loss to Indiana, wins against Iowa, USC, Penn St.
- Loss to UGA, wins against OU, LSU, Tulane
- Loss to ASU, win over BYU and no one else

Miami is a much better team, at this point, than either Oklahoma and Alabama. Yet as the 7 seed we got them. We should have been playing one of Alabama or Oklahoma. There is a very good argument Miami should have been #8. The whole Notre Dame thing was so so so stupid.

All that said we should have beaten Miami, which we could have done in OT except for a critical turnover in the endzone to end the ballgame. Miami made the plays and we didn't. Miami is playing at a high level right now and deserves all the accolades.

Advancing, even against a G5 cupcake, and keeping your name in the press for an extra 10 days goes a long way in overcoming the narrative of "can't win the big one".

While that is true, complaining about having a terrible draw is seen as a sign of weakness by many that says the only way you can advance or win is if you have an easy schedule. The Ags were fighting that belief by many as having had an easy schedule overall. Winning a game against a cupcake G5 and then losing in the 2nd round to a P4 opponent wouldn't have done much to change that narrative by anyone paying attention.

Lol. Who do you think in the playoffs Reed would beat on a neutral field? The answer is nobody except the small subdivision schools.

LOL. Miami missed 3 easy FGs and averaged over 5 yards a run. If Miami makes their easy FG attempts, then it's 19 points. You don't get credit for them missing easy FGs. Lol

If you are making an argument to give Miami credit for points they didn't earn, it's weak. Both A&M and Miami played with the same high winds environment so there were no easy field goals. The score was the score. They had 10 because that's all they earned. Execution is not a given. That's like me making an argument that A&M should have received credit for the pass that should have been a touchdown but was an interception.

No excuses for losing a 1st round game with home field advantage.

A&M got f'd on seeding though.

Both can be true.

I beg to differ on perception of 1-1 vs 0-1 and have no illusions about whining from anyone on Texags impacting perception of the program.
