Everyone knows the QB is a veteran transfer QB from Cal.

What about their OL and skill position players? Moreso, they have an excellent defense, good DL, great LBs, how many are xfers?

I know he brought some good players from JMU. But am guessing but don't know that the majority of their starting 11 on O and D are xfers? Can't imagine pre-Cignetti recruits to Indiana were many 4*+ football players.

Lots of good players in CFP that were xfers from much lesser P4 and G5 programs, even a few FCS.

From IU website:
Each of the 19 transfers arrive from the FBS level, with 11 from Power 4 programs and eight from Group of Five teams. Eleven of the transfers come on the offensive side of the football, six are on the defensive side of the ball and two are specialists.

Offensive Rose Bowl MVP Coogan was at ND last year.

Go look up what their recruiting classes have been ranked the past 4-5 seasons.

This is 100% coaching and proof that it can be done and done immediately with a coach that knows what he's doing.

Indiana's starters recruiting rankings out of high school:

(8) 0 stars
(1) 2 star
(11) 3 stars
(2) 4 stars

Cignetti is a guru

What Cignitti has done at Indiana is beyond comprehension and no other coach has accomplished what he has in only two years at Indiana. So according to your reasoning, there are no other coaches who know what they are doing.

Uh, no. I don't need to look at their recruiting rankings, we know they don't stack up to big time football schools. Yes Cignetti is a good coach but this success is being built on xfers, thus the post.

I'm sure coaching has something to do with it. But I'm all but certain without one of the very best QBs if not the best QB- no bottom tier team can rise to the top.

Swap Reed for Mendoza and we would be undefeated- by a huge margin.

Look at Vanderbilt this year, Kansas when they made a run decade+ ago, and Mizzou when they made runs. It always flows through the QB. Elite QBs make coaches look brilliant and elevate the rest of the team.

The path to a National Championship runs thru Cignatti no Elko!

Their recent transfer classes have been 19, 30, 16. I had an idiot on another site refute my claim that Cignetti has turned in one of, if not the, greatest coaching performances of all time. The guy cited NIL and the transfer portal was the only reason - nope.

This times 1000. What's more is our idiot leadership, with unlimited resources, were SO damn lazy they were about to hire freaking Mark Stoops. Meanwhile Indiana's leadership had football minds with an actual plan to hire a coach who has dominated everywhere and was willing to bet his superior process would prevail at the highest level. And guess what, they are about to have a national championship in Cignetti's 2nd year. Cignetti won't be close to done yet either. I bet he wins multiple titles over the next 5-7 years.
