tu and Ole Miss both picked up incredibly reliable and long-ranged kickers in the portal that helped them to a good amount of success this season. It stands to reason that there are really talented kickers out there.

As opposed to other positions, is there a ton of talent evaluation that goes into selecting a place kicker? Obviously handling intense pressure with calmness is a factor that's hard to measure, but what else does one need to know in order to go after the right guy?

Maybe they picked him from the crowd already dressed like that? Although I would have stripped down to my boxers on live tv and done the kick rather than kicking in overalls.
