Huge L for Lane IMO. Good for Trinidad, hope he gets his request to play approved for '26 (especially since we don't have to play him on the schedule)

Kid is a damn good QB and glad I don't have to hate him now- would have if he ended up in BR.

I think LSU told him they can't wait to see if he gets his waiver, they are probably about to sign that Leavitt kid from ASU

Not worth the roll of the dice for LSU on the extra year, so it makes sense. What is Ole Miss' backup plan here?

Well, MR has half the college experience. So there's that. Let's see how he develops.

It still baffles me that the 2025 Aggie football team went 11-1 in the regular season AND got to host a playoff game, but when I read TexAgs, more than half of the Zoo is just tearing down our sophomore QB.

Did you watch Reed when he was not playing well? It was really bad and is a legitimate major concern.

Qualifying things by saying "sophomore quarterback" is very much invalid now.

*Redshirt sophomore QB that has been on campus for three years.

Guy will be 22 by the time fall camp starts

How many pass attempts in college (ALL) does Marcel and Trinidad each have?

Chambliss: 808
Reed: 653

So Chambliss has 155 more, which is less than half a season based on Marcel's attempts this year. Chambliss has more or less a full time starter for two seasons, Reed only started 8 games last year. That's the difference.

Can you please tell me who is going to be Trinidad next season? Let's hear it. Someone from a small school no one has heard about that's going transfer and have a great season?

All I said was that I wish Marcel was half the QB Trinidad is. I didn't say anything about transfers in this thread.

Right or wrong, the combination of BAS and young college players making millions of dollars makes people more critical and less patient.

And my point is you are acting like it should be easy to have a Trinidad. And as I pointed out, Ole Miss finding him like they did is the exception. Yet, you still are going to cry about it.

Where did I say that?

Marcel being the best option we have doesn't make him good.

Texas Sips definitely hope Chambliss is gone. They play Ole Miss next year. Sark appealed to have Pavia's extra year rejected last year. Lol so you know he's following closely if not trying to get Chambliss's extra year rejected.

Many other threads to debate Reed.

As for Chambliss, this request should be denied. 6th year of eligibility is ridiculous.

As players get eligibility added for 6 and even 7 years in some cases, what is to stop them from getting unlimited eligibility? They can make an argument in court that the education part of eligibility is a joke (they wouldn't qualify for admission without their athletic skills, they change schools every year, and take easy non-standard degree plans). They can argue eligibility is just a way for the NCAA to suppress their ability to earn maximum income with their skills. Crazy but it will be a lawsuit, especially with college pay increasing exponentially now.

Correct. Unfortunately, with the collapse of amateurism, the door to disregarding eligibility has opened.

Man, that was a super quick pivot to a non sequitur once your pumper buddy got cockslapped with facts in response to his original question. Mildly impressive actually.

His appeal should be denied. He RSd at Ferris State in 2021z. His argument is he only played 2 games in 2022. But he did play, so that's 2022/23/24/25 plus the RS year in 2021. Move on.

His reps/lawyers arguing irreparable harm if he isn't granted another year to play at Ole Miss (aka $$$$).

So, why shouldn't any really good player not in the NFL just apply for more eligibility citing the same? There are hundreds of elite CFB players that never made it to the NFL that could make the same argument. If a 6th year is granted to Chambliss, why not 8 or 10?!?!?!!!!
ElephantRider

So basically they want it to be unlimited years to play four seasons? That's crazy, but no more crazy than anything else in CFB right now
Jarrin Jay

They want unlimited years to play CFB period.

There are hundreds of CFB players that RS then barely play at all in year 2 their RS FR season. Hell Saban built his whole program on that. Amount of play in RS FR season should not be a determining factor to get more eligibility.

Correct. Unfortunately, with the collapse of amateurism, the door to disregarding eligibility has opened.

With Sorsby making more money in 1 year than Sander's 4 year NFL contract, it is now obvious players have an incentive to legally challenge for unlimited eligibility. Right now, I consider NCAA football as a professional league directly competing with the NFL for fans ($), TV contracts, talent, etc.

There is a lot of money in NCAA football to throw around, but the lack of rules plus wealthy alums buying talent for programs with inadequate fan bases will degrade the NCAA football product and fans will stop watching. What is happening now in NCAA football is making the NFL look better by comparison.

Half the player? Well congratulations!!! WINNER. Reed is certainly already there if half is all you need!

Reed needs another year 110%. But sorry folks....there isnt a portal QB out there better than him and the NIL ask from the top portal QBs is INSANE. Makes ZERO sense.

But most you fair weather fans do not recognize this and how NIL budgets come into play with these decisions.

I know Lane Kiffen would die to have Reed on their roster. That's for sure.

Reed certainly needs to improve. But regardless, we cannot change it so as fans we need to accept Reed and support him as much as possible. He is our QB #1 for 2026 without any doubts.

There would have to be exceptions such as someone entering after serving in the military or someone who played minor league baseball for a few years

Can you imagine the circus that would be?
It's bad already now in youth sports with parents/kids imagine tossing in agents/players..
