Bring him back. Manziel. Mayfield. Mahomes. Even Murray. That is who Reed and this offense needs.

He'd be gone in 2 years and another OC. 5 in 6 or 7 years. Need an offensive identity

He'll have a ton of NFL OC options, maybe even a couple of HC.

What if he went to Oregon...

Kliff, Lanning, & Phil knight just blowing nonstop coke rails & parading around in flamboyant green garb

God how great would that be

Any successful OC will be gone in 2 years. If your OC isn't desired by other programs to be a head coach at school the level of A&M within 2 years then your offense is not performing.

Kliff's bad playcalling was bailed out by a once in a generation duo of talent coupled with an incredible offensive line. Johnny's magic came after busted play calls from kingsbury. JMHO.

If our OC gets a new and better gig in 2 years, it probably means our team did better than if they are still here in 4+ years.

Wanting the same OC forever is basically wanting somebody that is good enough to not be fired, but not good enough that anyone else is interested.

That's not going to win you a ton of games.

This is where teams whose head coach has a background in offense have an advantage - continuity of system.

He just got fired by one of the worst teams in the NFL, he isn't as good as a lot of people on here think.

He's failed everywhere he has been, except under Sumlin. And here, he had JFF, and the scheme was, "Go do something, Johnny!." He had Pat Mahomes and didn't win. Had Murray and didn't win. Not smart enough to sign Mayfield from the walk ons. The dude is barely a has-been.

When we went hurry up, Plays were not called...

I actually wonder how many plays were actually called other than, pass, run left, right...

We know JFF was a gym rat, always in the weight room, watching film for hours and hours...

The offense that KK built around Manziel's talent was simply mind-blowing.

Every single play was basically making one or two coverage guys to commit to stopping JFF from running for one million yards or passing to an open receiver.

It hadn't been seen in college football at that level in 2012.

If you are concerned about a few bad play calls, and attribute all of KK's success or failure on that, I think you are missing the bigger picture.

Johnny was Kingsbury's magic. And, while Mahomes is a great talent, Kingsbury's did nothing with him at Tech. Hard pass.

I think you missed the picture. Many, if not most, of JFF big plays were after the called play didn't work and JFF did his JFF thing. It's well documented (by the Duke DL) that the entire second half of that comeback was JFF basically saying Eff that to the play call and calling his own plays. KKs offense looses the Duke game (and probably half a dozen other games) were it not for JFF. The fact that KK has fallen on his face almost everywhere since is proof enough of that. Do not want KK at A&M, but wish him well in whatever he does.

Kingsbury wasn't the OC during JFF's second season.

I think the playbook was more like:

1) Is Mike Evans open? No? go to 2.
2) Is this particular defender playing the hook zone, flat, or covering the outlet guy well, or covering him poorly to make sure I don't run the ball? Outlet guy covered well? Go to 3.
3) Run through this lane that was created by the WR route package on the play. Is that lane closed? Go to 4.
4) Make **** up and score a TD.

One of the things that was easy to miss about KK's offense is that the WR routes and pass protection schemes were purposefully drawn up to provide JFF running lanes. I saw an analysis of this early in his freshman season, and it was impossible to unsee it after that.

A&M had better offensive numbers the year after Kingsbury left, and that's with opposing DCs having a year of game film on Johnny and without our best offensive line in school history. Kingsbury owes his entire career to Johnny Manziel's impromptu style.

Why wouldnt Petrino be able to get jobs?

He's good. It is still a shame that Jimbo had him, chose to not let him be play caller and let the inmates run the prison
