What is adjusted NIL value?

"On3's Team Transfer Portal Index utilizes the On3 (P)erformance score to measure a team's production during the transfer process, compared relative against its roster and not a comparison against other schools. This proprietary algorithm determines if a school has improved its overall team talent, stayed the same, or declined in talent during the transfer window. "

I am assuming it is their way of quantifying if a team is winning or losing in the transfer portal. For example if we lost a player they valued at an NIL deal of $50k a year and gained a player they value at an NIL deal of $100k a deal then as a team our adjusted NIL value is +50k. I don't think it has anything to do with the real values of the NIL deals.

1.9M in NIL. That's a bargain.

I know the main difference is that On3 takes into account players transferring out. Still, rating and evaluating players in the portal is much more difficult than rating HS recruits.

That seems counterintuitive to me . More mature guys that have played at the college level (some of them) vs hs kids that haven't been as challenged . Seems like the portal players would be easier to evaluate.

I'm not saying I know, just that it seems to me that the experienced college players would be easier to evaluate for the college level game.

It moves at warp speed and they just don't have the infrastructure to keep up with it. Thats why. Hs does have some guys who slip through the cracks because they play at a small school and don't attend camps. But in general most bigger recruits attend camps and get noticed and can be evaluated for months to get a rating

For example, Rickey Gibson wasn't even rated but was a top tier target for us. When he committed they had to slap a rating on him.

I know he was injured but this is a sec starter who Tennessee thought was their best DB and on pace to be an NFL draft pick before his pectoral injury(not like a lower body injury that may linger)

They slapped a 3 star ranking on him and put him one spot behind Jayvon Thomas who couldn't cover utsa receivers in garbage time, and we let go intentionally. Thats more than laughable

Some good points there . I understand the camps are a pretty robust evaluation tool. Gotta think that anyone that gets a portal offer from a top half P4 program has been reasonably evaluated based on film before they get an offer tho. Am I wrong on that ?

Later bloomers are another factor. Some continue to get bigger and stronger and become better football players from 17-20 yrs old and others don't. The early peakers are more heavily recruited out of hs but the later peakers may end up having the higher ceiling.

I guess what I am saying is demonstrated success by an older player in a div 1 environment sometimes might be a better predictor of projected success vs a hs player. Of course there are some hs players that are basically ready to go immediately physically but everyone already knows who they are.
