We did not have to play Indiana. Absolutely insane how complete they are. I love me some Aggie football but also a realist. That is all.

There are people on these boards that will still tell you we could have beaten them.

I don't think we could have beaten them. I still think we are better than Ole Miss, Oregon, and Tech though and should have been in one of those seeds.

LOTS of folks on this board were regularly complaining every time Heather Dinich wrote or said that IU was a better team than the Aggies.

At that point in the season they hadn't proven that they were.

Now they clearly have.

Do people just forget how Indiana looked against some fairly pedestrian teams? How they're performing in tonight's game has no bearing on how they would have looked against the Ags.

Put another way, she was right about them the whole time. But only now you can believe it?

If Indiana destroys Miami, they will have to be recognized as one of top 5 college teams ever.

More accurately, most people stated they haven't proven anything because their schedule was trash. Big difference. Get your facts straight.

People are now giving them the credit they have earned.

If you think Indiana is the best team ever, then logically if Miami wins they are the best team ever? If beating the best team ever doesn't mean you are it, then they weren't the best team ever. Beating Oregon twice, Ohio State and Alabama and Miami, is that enough? I say top 5 all time but not best ever, although clearly better than Vys team.

Home game for Miami and ESPN is showing a -7.5 line for Indiana.

There are a lot of posters on this these boards that don't watch much college football but that doesn't stop them from posting.

They cannot face reality if we could beat either team we dont have the focus nor the conjunction as a team and our QB RB and Line backers are not good when compared to what i just saw tonight

It wasn't her opinion that rubbed people the wrong way, it was her flawed analysis that did. She said things like "I'd rank Bama ahead of A&M because the Tide has two ranked road wins", which ignored the fact that A&M had three. "Bama's strength of record is #4 overall", which ignored the fact that A&M's was #1 at the time.

It was her BS reasoning, not her opinions. Congrats to her for being correct about Indiana. I'm sure she's excited as an Indiana grad.

Football is different when talking about " the best " team
For example football is the only major sport where going undefeated is something that happens regularly & the number of losses ( regardless of schedule strength ) is how teams are ranked

Looking at the CFP
0 loss Indiana
1 loss OSU, UGa, tceh, Ducks, Rebs.Ags
2 loss OU,Bama,Miami ND ( first team out )
The U can't be an all time great team with losses to SMU & UL
IU at 16-0 gets to be on the list given wins over OSU, Bama, the ducks , & the U
Especially how badly they beat bama and OU

We wouldn't have played them until the championship game. By then, our stock and brand would have skyrocketed even if we had lost the game.

I take your point. I do. But then you give the point away a by mentioning she's an Indiana grad. Implying her analysis was slanted for her alma mater. Maybe it was to an extent.

But her analysis is of the same value as Paul Fnebaum's or Billy Luicci's or anyone that traffics in sports media.

They are all about keeping an audience engaged, and preferably subscribed. Whether any of them are right or wrong in the middle of a season is completely incidental.

None of them KNOW how good any given team is relative to the rest of college football. The days of "Who is the best?" being answered by writers and talking heads are gone now. In this expanded playoff combined with NIL and transfers, ANY team with the money and the right GM/leadership can put a contender on the field.

And no loss or close game in the early season scuttles a good team's season. Miami dropped two games to a pair of 9-4 teams and they are in the final. College football is a wide open game now. I kinda like it this way.

TLDR: She was wrong about Bama, right about IU, and none of it meant a thing. Only at the end of the season do any of us know the answer to "Who's the best?"

P.S. I'm more of a Baseball Furies guy, and lay off the Warriors. They didn't shoot Cyrus.

I think the Aggies from Baton Rouge could have beaten Indiana at that point in the season. Indiana had a nice win at Autzen, but were fortunate to get out of Happy Valley with a win against a bad Penn State team. The rest of their schedule was like our first two games - hot garbage. But since the B10 championship, Indiana has been on fire. Beating the Buckeyes has fueled the Hoosiers in much the same way as our win in front of Touchdown Jesus did. Now they look to be an unbeatable team.

I'm still picking Miami given how strong their defense is, but acknowledge that if Indiana gets a couple of quick scores or tacks on some kind of cheap one, like a pick-6, Miami is cooked at that point. And the college football world will be seeing headlines it literally never expected to see: Indiana wins national championship.

Yes. This is the new college football. Where IU might be champions with a 16-0 campaign to show for it.

I like it!
