How so? He's an average QB. Many others would have led them there. The guy is a turnover machine. Miami's strength was their defense. He reminds me a lot of Marcel without the mobility.

He engineered 2 go-ahead TD drives in the 4th qtr of the semi-final game. He scored the winning TD on the 2nd drive. He went toe to toe with the Heismann winning QB and came up short.

His combined stat line in the semi-final and championship game.

42/69 500 yds 4TD 2 Int Miami doesn't make it to the final drive of the championship with a chance to win it all without Carson Beck.

He's good, but he's not going to get us to the NC game.

Beck wasn't a game changer nor a great QB, but he was a game manager type that wins you games a lot of the time.

ND had Riley Leonard last year who was a game manager type as well. You just need a QB that takes what is there

I don't think so, go back and watch the Miami game he was lucky he didn't have 4 interceptions in that game. He made many bad throws Miami just dropped several easy int's.

Higher completion percentage, more yards, few sacks than the Heisman winner. Yes his intereceptions were high but not as high as Reed. Too many INTs to end games but at least he was in them. I'd take him.

Not very good? What's the definition of "very good"? Win the NC? He did get to the NC game and was 10th in QBR for the season. He's pretty good. He wasn't Mendoza "out of this world" but what other QBs were. The measuring stick seems to be "win it all or you suck".

13th overall QB rating. 72% completion percentage. 30 TDs this year, top 5. To say he is not very good is not true.

Or, just throw the ball far enough. The receiver was breaking behind the coverage. Put the ball in front of him and it is a touchdown.

He's very good. Made a big mistake and fell just short. Special teams cost Miami a lot more.

And yet the play was there. Receiver was open, he just under threw it. Had he made the throw, and it wasn't that difficult of one, they likely win by 1 and he is one of the greatest. Amazing what 1 play can mean.

Absolutely, maybe not very good but pretty dang good and well above avg. just some late boneheaded decisions and mistakes, that final throw was awful. The WR was not even expecting the ball as he had double coverage with the safety rolled over, there was not even a TE on that side of the formation. The WR is not even looking for the ball as it was coming down for the INT.

Plenty of time and Miami was moving the ball, to go for it all there with one WR to the boundary and double coverage was really stupid and a huge mistake. But he is a very good college QB.

Miami offered Ty Simpson $5 mill. + to enter the transfer portal AFTER he declared for the NFL draft. Dude, $5 mill. For essentially 10 months of "work"?!?! I'd take that in a heartbeat, NFL will still be there.

Agree with those that say miami got impatient .to me if you get to the 10-15 yard line it opens up more possibilities for a game winning finish.

I think Beck ends up a clipboard holder in the NFL which is damned good work if you can get it.

Lol He has been a top 10 QB for 3 years in a row at two different schools.

I think Carson Beck is a good quarterback, but not a great quarterback.

I think air is good to breathe. I like it better than water. But I also like water.
