I was sure we had "TAMU" as a special helmet design several years back, but can't find it. Have we ever had TAMU on a helmet or jersey in any sport?

The ESPN score bug use to put TAMU, maybe that is what the OP remembers.

There have also been a lot of threads where TexAg'ers posted mock ups of uniform and helmet suggestions, maybe it was on one of them

For next year the helmet should look similar to the Vols helmet: white shell with center maroon stipe. Maroon block "t" on both sides. Beneath the block"t" letter in smallish font the number "150" to mark the school's 150th anniversary.

With teams having to outbid each other on NIL, it won't be long until we have Coke or Pepsi on the helmets. Coaches on the sidelines will look like NASCAR drivers with all the sponsor patches.

Larger Block T with Maroon Facemask is my favorite look.


But I'm resigned to being ok with what we currently have, wish the 98 throwback's had stuck and we went to those full time, but the marketing and branding department wouldn't go for that.



And yes, we have had the bevel on the helmet since 2012, the Lone Star logo on the back of the helmet has the beveled logo, but it has never been the main helmet decal, thankfully.

I will never understand why we can't get rid the stupid looking bevel and hope that whoever designed it and whoever approved it go the rest of their lives with a rash upon their nethers.

"The Bevel" was created in 1998 and is credited to Ed O'Hara and Tom O'Grady with SME, along with Alan Siegel as a consultant on the project. Ed was Principal and Creative Director. The bevel was not a product of Nike as I originally thought, but the brainchild of these bozos at Sports Marketing Enterprises (SME) Branding.

They were an outside consulting agency and that's the best they could come up with. There you go. This research was all done via ChatGPT and going down a long rabbit hole to get there, so take that with a grain of salt.

Might not be a popular take, but that helmet is fine.
