No it's just you.

My impression was that there were throws he put too much on. But maybe it was not a lot of times. If I watched every game again and charted it, I might come to a different conclusion. But yeah, I do recall some fastballs that seemed a bit much.

Touch and capability are not his issues

Its confidence and consistency and by the end of the season, he had very little of either, and neither of those are easily fixable.

If Marcel ever threw it "too hard," as many complained about Calzada, it was just a few times. Lack of arm strength is a bigger concern. He just doesn't have an NFL arm, IMO.
Again, accuracy is his biggest weakness.

The zoo still only sees that wobbly pass that one time during off-season warm ups.

The last pass of the season appeared to be a touch pass. Unfortunately, the wrong team touched it.

Accuracy is his problem even when he completes the pass sometimes

lots of his passes were behind, too high, too hard, too short to the open receiver

Is this real?

During the season it was "STOP OVERTHROWING PEOPLE!!!!"

Now he doesn't have arm strength.

A guy lacking arm strength doesn't make this throw

Or this one

55 yards in the air

For the OP: Touch pass

Touch pass

Touch pass

Touch pass

60 yds through the air

40 yd touch pass

56 yards with perfect touch

Is there anything you have EVER been right about?

The guy is just young. He will make a big jump this year like he did last year. Remember all the happy feet when he was a freshman? He was substantially better his second year.

I expect he will continue to develop in the off season. I still think he has all the tools, he just needs to mature (and put some weight on).

I still remember how small Haynes King was until he physically matured..... He doesn't look like the same guy now.

Reed's problem isn't arm strength, it's consistency

He seems like he's too amped up in big games sometimes or he makes inaccurate throws or goes through stretches of inaccuracy while other times he can thread a needle with his throws

The accuracy issues are most evident on the easy passes: sometimes they are thrown too hard or too high or too far behind or out in front and even if completed have killed the play because it was designed to hit the receiver in stride so he can get YAC

Whether its mechanics or something between he ears, he s d the coaches need to figure out and fix it so he can take that next step up a d be consistent on the field

If that happens then look out because that kid has the tools to be really special as we saw at times this past season

When he's on his game he's deadly.

That's the key to next season

If it happens we'll be in the playoffs, if not we won't

You're right, Mrs. Reed. He'll be a Heisman candidate again in 2026.

Seriously. Most of those passes don't quite fit the description given to them... A great "touch pass" doesn't require a wide open receiver to stumble out of bounds making a fingertip grab on what should have been a touchdown.

Just because Reed CAN throw it 60 yards in the air doesn't mean he has a strong arm. Too often he pigeon-hops on those long throws because his mechanics and arm strength don't give him a firm enough platform. That's why he overthrows so many deep passes - it isn't because he has a rocket arm.

I'm not arguing that he should have a rocket arm. Lots of QBs don't. But it requires good accuracy, balance, mechanics, and anticipation to be a top level guy. He just isn't that. Not yet.

The next time you post something accurate will be the first. If you're going to cry about a player, it's best to not be completely wrong.

Wait, my descriptions are wrong because the pass wasn't 100% perfect despite flying 60 yards through the air into a receivers arms for a touchdown?

Lol. CLOWN.

Settle down. It's okay. Really.

Reed is a mid-tier QB. Those highlight reels do not change that fact.

He might make the step up to elite next year. He needs to fix his feet to do that.

When Reed's mechanics are sound he's great. If he can quiet down some do the noise in his delivery and have solid footwork more consistently he'll take the next step.

What I saw at the end of the season was he looked rushed. He looked like he was trying to get rid of the ball lightning fast before his feet were set causing inaccuracy.
Looked like a shortstop trying to turn a double play from the 3rd base hole-way too quick

He had the jitters. He freaked out. Something was in his head. Everything inaccuracy, terrible footwork, bad decision making were consequences of these issues. Until they are positively resolved, his performance in big games will remain unchanged. Cheerleading, coddling him, and criticizing others who expose these issues won't help him, either.

Regarding arm strength, he threw darts when darts were needed to fit the ball into tight windows. He has plenty of arm strength. He threw a lot of great balls over the course of the season. But overall, accuracy and touch seemed to be missing especially later in the year. He needs to improve but the potential is there.

No. He was born July 8, 2004. He played in the Texas Bowl in 2023. Thats when he cut his teeth at the College level. He followed that with significant playing time in 2024. He started the entire 2025 season. He will be the starter in 2026 and will be 22 years old.

Don't let age or experience be a built in excuse

Yes, he often overthrew (meaning too fast) short routes where it appeared just a little more touch would be a completion.

We had good receivers but still better to throw an easier ball when the time/spacing allows.

the top NFL QBs throw their receivers open with relatively soft passes thrown to the right spot. i guess you call that accuracy. I think Joe Burrow was really good at that at LSU.
Divining Rod
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Heineken- nit sure the reason you're showing all those long passes. When people talk about being able to thriw with touch, they're usually referring to the short to internmediate routes.

But re the long ball. maybe you can find us the lowlight reel of the innumerable long passes where he could not "lead" or 'loft". He has improved somewhat there, but still not that good.

Come on, friend. I've never "cried" about Marcel. I like him and think he's a good kid. But it is fair to point out his shortcomings. I hope he improves next season. He has a chance to be an all time top 10 Aggie QB.
