Politicians coming together to give tax cuts to football players is next level scheming.

Before you all start clamoring for the same, remember that Texas can't do this because we don't have a state income tax.

So they would only have an advantage over states that have an income tax.

Same poverty ass state that paid Brett Farve and Ted DiBiase, Jr. millions of federal welfare funds in various scams.

We should convince the city of Austin to pass an 75% income tax on income over $100,000.

Mississippi is poorest state in union that has to take welfare money to build a collegiate volleyball arena at the behest of Brett Favre and now they are eliminating some of their richest residents from the tax base. Genius!

If I'm a Mississippi citizen I'm raising all kinds of hell about this.
These kids are making more money to play football than many folks make in their entire careers. And you want to give THEM a tax break.
Our priorities are SO ****ed up in this country. Yet one more thing that is just twisting the knife in college football.

There's merit to this, though. Heard it mentioned that one player is going to make $5M in NIL. For which, $200K would be owed to the state for taxes. That's a drop in the bucket, comparatively.

But that same $200K could be stretched to pay for a lot of school lunches in the K-12 program.

I'm no bleeding heart lib or commie, but I can see when politicians aren't putting the majority of their constituents first.

And as someone else pointed out in this thread, the advantage this gives is only against what... Alabama and Georgia? SEC schools in TX, FL and TN already don't have state income tax.

Oh but wait, there's the hope for a recruiting advantage over Kiffin and LSU...

There is a Texas constitutional amendment against any income tax, state, local or city. So nice try, but think of something else outside the box.

This is certainly one way to turn your fan base against you.

Well I'll only be happy when the Ags are allowed to match NIL donations by diverting PUF money from education to football!!

Not even close. By GDP, they're 37th -- around the bottom of the middle third. By tax revenue, they're even a little better, ahead of states like Hawaii and Nebraska.

Now, they may spend all that, creating a shortfall, but revenue generation wise, they aren't Texas but they also aren't at the bottom of anything.
