There's no denying that Texas A&M put together a top-10 portal class. The Aggies signed 11 starters from other FBS rosters, including nine from Power 4 schools. That includes four starting SEC offensive linemen to replace the four starters lost to exhausted eligibility. Three of the five starters added to the defense are linemen from P4 programs, which will help replace the six starters lost on that side of the ball. Tight end Theo Melin Ohrstrom (SMU) is the only starter lost to the portal. The Aggies also picked up two highly productive pass-catching options for returning quarterback Marcel Reed in Horton and tight end Richie Anderson (Fresno State).

Bottom line: A&M did a good job filling holes and retaining top talent from a CFP team.

Grade: A

Just here to share some positivity. I am sure within five responses this thread will turn into talking about how Manny Navarro knows nothing and another debate on how none of it matters because Marcel Reed blah, blah, blah....but I'm still pumping that sunshine off of our first play-off appearance of many!

it remains to be seen how successful the 2026 season will be due to very difficult schedule but i like what elko has done in the portal. he has a strategy which is ice for a change.

Transfers incoming to leaving is about 6:1 ratio in our favor on snaps played/experience.

Of the ones leaving only the following would have been on the 2 deep: all 2nd team at best
Ohrstrom - 2nd
Kennedy - 2nd
Evans - 2nd
Williams - 2nd

Of the incoming, possible 2 deep:
Horton - 1st
Formby - 1st
Adams - 1st
Echols - 1st
Baugh - 1st
Thomas - 1st
Anderson - 2nd, 2 tight end sets

Olano - 1st
Freibaum - 1st

Gibson - 1st
Byard - 2nd
Coney - 2nd
Mims - 1st
McCollum - 2nd
Davis Swain - 3rd
Saka - 1st
Henderson - 3rd
Smith - 3rd

We could have as many as 9 starters coming out of this group and the new kicker and long snapper, plus another 4 second teamers.

Replacing 13 guys at the NFL combine won't be easy but between the transfers, returning starters and some of the freshmen like Arrington, Edwards and either (Gregory, Williams or Warren) stepping up we should be close to what we were last year.

Receivers, running backs and secondary should be healthier, faster and better than last year. Reed should be more efficient. DL should be better at stopping the run. LB might be faster. If Oline jells and locks down, we should be good to go.
