I'll at least say for him that he has his eye on the ball and is looking to play it.
But intent is only part of it, that type of play can start a fight at lower levels.

Nah. I'm convinced that de Jong went on the pitch looking for blood. I think Muller got caught watching the ball and had no idea the Ajax player was there.
