Texas A&M Soccer is back home tonight to continue SEC play. The Aggies are set to face-off against the University of Kentucky at 6:30PM.

Kentucky is off to a 5-3-2 start on the season. All 3 losses have come consecutively in the Wildcats' last 3 games. Last week Kentucky dropped home games in OT to Auburn (1-2) and Central Michigan (1-2). UK lost to Indiana 0-1 in a home match as well on Sept 15.

The two ties came in the first two games of the season, home matches against Bowling Green (3-3) and Western Kentucky (0-0).

The 5 wins were sandwiched between as Kentucky prevailed in early September matches against George Mason (4-2), Youngstown State (3-0), Northern Kentucky (1-0), Miami-Ohio (3-0) and Eastern Kentucky (2-0).

In all, the Wildcats have outscored opponents 18-10 with freshman Hannah Richardson (#8) leading the way with 6 goals. Freshman Jordyn Rhodes (#30) has 4 goals of her own along with an assist.

Freshman Steph Stull has seen all 965 minutes in goal, facing 96 shots, recording 23 saves and allowing 10 goals. Kentucky has 5 shutouts on the season.

It's somewhat of a youth movement with Kentucky featuring 6 freshman starters, including a pair of international defenders from Iceland and my wife's hometown of Stavanger, Norway.

Kentucky is like Mississippi State in the fact that they have never beaten Texas A&M. UK is 0-6-1 against the Aggies all-time.

Sorry I've been kind of phoning it in on these things. It's been hectic...

In that regard, does anyone want a pair of reserved seats for tonight's game? Text me [redacted]

I expect Karlina to be back since G said she was at practice Tuesday. We need to keep doing what we have been doing the last 135 minutes of play. We go on the road after this for 2 games.

It looks like A&M is playing soccer while Kentucky is playing foosball. Zero possession by the wildcats.

2-0.
Lopez to Watt on the first.
Asdis gets the ball through the hands of an outstretched keeper on the second.

Kentucky gets one that honestly I'm unsure how it got past the keeper. Should have been a routine save.

Really surprised at the score tonight. Wonder if UK was tired after 2 OT games last weekend.
I thought we played the ball in the air the best we have this year. Great to see Jenna on the field for extended minutes tonight after not playing last weekend. Had a bad giveaway in the first half, but Shantel saved her teammate. I think G got a pie in the face after the game. He said on the radio that if we won last Sunday and then tonight the team could do it. Have to be really pleased with the depth on this team. I'm continually surprised that teams give Jimena so much space to receive the ball on the left side.

Maybe, maybe not. The Kentucky team looked almost as bad as UTRGV. The Kentucky mom sitting next to me said it's the worst she's ever seen them play. We're definitely better than the beginning of the season, our fundamentals look better, but can't assume too much from a game like this. Sunday's game against LSU should be another easy win, then we go to Florida. We'll know if the offense is firing on all cylinders after that game.

We were really good tonight, but UK looked terrible. I think when we got the third goal early in the second half they really sagged. It looked like they were just trying to play out the string from that point on. I really was feeling sorry for them.

I agree with Redd in that UF on the road will be a real test, assuming we don't blow a fuse against LSU.

Still, you have to play the schedule the conference gives you, and so far, so good.

This is how we are supposed to play against inferior opponents. Dominate and let the subs get lots of quality minutes. Since our loss we have mostly played bad teams but we have dominated, which wasn't the case in the couple games before the loss. We are passing the ball better and creating some great shots. Back to back road games should be a nice test.

I heard in a pre-game interview that we are traveling by bus to LSU - six or six and one-half hours each way. That will be a drag, but hopefully the young people are resilient.

Even though Kentucky isn't a top team in the SEC, I was still impressed with the game overall. I think the line up has the ability to be adjusted in the midfield without too much disruption in quality and play. Especially if we need a certain type of player to counter the other team (Arrieta/Piper, McCain/Te. Ziemer, K. Smith/Kolb). I didn't see a drop off in play when the first substitutions came on and this makes me feel a lot better about the future of this team.

The adjustment of moving K. Smith to the left to replace Lopez is honestly brilliant. I would hate to be the right defender who has to defend both because they love to attack the line. Also, I am happy they moved Russell (I swear it was my idea) to the right because with a few more minutes adjusting to the position she may be a terror on the right. I think the Kentucky defense didn't have a great game plan by giving space on the outside and allowing crosses. How many of our goals came from a pass/cross from the outside? 4-5?

I hope nothing is seriously wrong with Sample and the staff are holding her out as a precaution, but I think the defense will need her starting with the Florida game.

That's the Jimbo Effect on non-revenue sports.

She was dancing around the game before last and continued the same this game. Seems she is out for precautionary reasons and no need to play here in games we will dominate. If it is just precautionary to keep her out the last game, I would expect to see her back for some time against the poor attack of LSU so she will not have any rust for Florida.
