Texas A&M Soccer is back home tonight to continue SEC play. The Aggies are set to face-off against the University of Kentucky at 6:30PM.
Kentucky is off to a 5-3-2 start on the season. All 3 losses have come consecutively in the Wildcats' last 3 games. Last week Kentucky dropped home games in OT to Auburn (1-2) and Central Michigan (1-2). UK lost to Indiana 0-1 in a home match as well on Sept 15.
The two ties came in the first two games of the season, home matches against Bowling Green (3-3) and Western Kentucky (0-0).
The 5 wins were sandwiched between as Kentucky prevailed in early September matches against George Mason (4-2), Youngstown State (3-0), Northern Kentucky (1-0), Miami-Ohio (3-0) and Eastern Kentucky (2-0).
In all, the Wildcats have outscored opponents 18-10 with freshman Hannah Richardson (#8) leading the way with 6 goals. Freshman Jordyn Rhodes (#30) has 4 goals of her own along with an assist.
Freshman Steph Stull has seen all 965 minutes in goal, facing 96 shots, recording 23 saves and allowing 10 goals. Kentucky has 5 shutouts on the season.
It's somewhat of a youth movement with Kentucky featuring 6 freshman starters, including a pair of international defenders from Iceland and my wife's hometown of Stavanger, Norway.
Kentucky is like Mississippi State in the fact that they have never beaten Texas A&M. UK is 0-6-1 against the Aggies all-time.
