Anyone near Cypress (NW Houston) that has a drone with camera and wouldn't mind doing an Ag a favor?

I coach my sons 6yo soccer team and i am trying to teach them positioning. I would like to find someone that would be willing to do a simple arial video of a scrimmage (Tu or Th evening) or game (Sat morning) so i have something i can show the kids for a learning opportunity.

Lot of safety concerns with using drones to video sporting events which is why they're not allow in most leagues or competitions. Is there not a high set of bleachers or a tower nearby?

This is neighborhood league. We are in a large open park. No bleachers and the tallest nearby things are oak trees.

Yeah, that sucks. When I was coaching HS, someone wanted to basically give us a drone to use for video, but we had to say no because of insurance and player safety and stuff like that.

I'm sorry but I'm going to be that person. 6-year olds? Positioning?!? Just play some bumper cars, red light/green light, sharks & minnows...develop individual ball skills before tactics.

And I say this as someone who played since 4 and would have thought having drone footage of my early games would be unbelievably cool, so not knocking the idea of having video. Just the idea of 6-year olds having film sessions

Good luck though...hopefully somebody can help you out.

Ive worked with most of these kids for 3 yrs and we have made some good progress on getting them to space out and pass. Just thinking about trying something different to help them visualize what is going on during the game.

When I coached HS football, we would use a drone to film our perimeter and team sessions (usually about an hour worth.)

They are safer than people think, and they have a built in mechanism that makes them return to the launch point automatically when the battery reaches a particular low

Man, that's what we wanted to do (plus soccer scrimmages) but our ISD was not having it. (This was about six years back in a huge urban district.)

I've seen older teams (U13 and up) use those 20-ft telescoping poles placed behind a goal for recording gameplay/scrimmages. Leagues say drones aren't allowed due to player safety, etc. but I think it's mostly due to parents being more concerned with random people videoing and tracking their kids. There's a similar issue with the telescoping pole but it somewhat isolates video to that field of play.

Just let them have fun.

My kids, long ago played on those same fields in Fairfield. It's a long journey. No need for the drones just yet. At this age spend time on individual technical skills (first touch, dribbling, coerver skills, passing, shooting). There are periscopic videos available, although you usually only see those in select competitive matches once they get older.

You don't need drones for 6 year olds. Forget tactics and spacing at that age. Do some fun games that get them working on technical skill without them even noticing it and be an encouraging coach so all your players give max work rate / tenacity / effort until they hear three whistles and you'll win all your games.
