False positives are really rare. Not to say it can't happen, but that'd be quite the bad luck.
If he's saying that just because a second test came back negative, its more likely the second test was a false negative or the player had gotten past the virus.
The 77 false positives resulted from one common incident at a testing facility. That's how they got so many at once, and that's not at all a good example to analyze the overall accuracy of the tests.wangus12 said:I mean the NFL had 77 false positives in one go. False positive rates of Covid-19 tests have been showing false positive rates of less than 1% and lower. Its much more likely to get a false negative. And of course possible the player just became negative between the first and second test.
Whoa!! I worked in healthcare for 40 plus years and how many women and men get called back for false positive PAP smears and PSA tests? Todays labs are like factory assembly lines.TXAggie2011 said:

Per G's press conference this week the positive was a lab error and all players were cleared last Friday.TXAggie2011 said:
Its likely less than 1 in 100, but either way, wouldn't be the statistically likely explanation and thus you're not likely to see a protocol allow for reversal unless its a confirmed false positive.
Nothing in that tweet indicates its confirmed ("believes") and it doesn't expand on why Coach G believes that. Again, not saying it didn't happen.
I believe the player is being tested again today, so let's just hope she's negative again and the rest of the year goes smoothly, yeah?
