I'll try to post some things that are out there right now. Today is the last day for the Winter transfer thread. But sometimes there's news coming out for plans in the summer too. These are just quick ones that I was interested in, any other scuttlebutt out there on big names?

Bryan Reynolds - RB (19yr old) - FC Dallas ---> AS Roma (Loan)
https://www.starsandstripesfc.com/2021/1/31/22258921/bryan-reynolds-reportedly-transfers-to-as-roma

This deal got put on hold earlier this month due to Bryan getting COVID and not being allowed into Italy before consecutive negative tests. It looks like he's in Rome right now and even though I haven't found an official announcement it sounds like it's pretty much a done deal.

Matthew Hoppe - ST (19yr old) - FC Schalke ---> no move
Signed a 2 year extension to stay with FC Schalke.

Chris Richards - CB (20yr old) - FC Bayern Munich ---> Hoffenheim (Loan)
Bayern sent Chris Richards out on loan to Hoffenheim for the rest of the year. Should start immediately as Hoffenheim is dealing with injuries on their backline.

Dayot Upamecano - CB (22yr old) - RB Liepzig (rumor)
Nothing to report except rumors are that Bayern will go hard for him in the summer along with two unnamed EPL clubs.

DeAndre Yedlin - RB (27yr old) - Newcastle United ---> Galatasaray (Transfer)
As expected, Yedlin is moving to the Turkish giant Galatasaray in a transfer move. Pretty much guarantees another American playing in the Champions League.

We'll see if he is yet another American to get screwed over by a Turkish team

Liverpool signed two CBs! Both Ben Davies (from Preston) and Ozan Kabak (from Schalke) .

Upamecano is gone in the summer, barring injury. He got the "Timo Werner" Don't-Lose-Him-For-Free contract extension this past summer - that is, a nice extension, but a very reasonable release clause that kicks in the following summer. Reports are that Leipzig have a deal in place for Mohamed Simakan to arrive July 1 as a direct replacement.

I've been following for months as teams have lined up to try to get him this window. I have a feeling that if Leipzig hadn't made the round of 16 - especially against Liverpool - that he would've been bound to LFC this window. But Leipzig has shut down all talk of him leaving until summer. Liverpool might still be interested in a summer transfer but the rumors seem to have indicated that interest was waning. Supposedly they're more interested in Leipzig's other young French CB Konate, who's cheaper (and has higher upside IMO if he can get healthy)... although even that interest may have cooled given the CB signings they just made.

From everything I can tell, the two EPL clubs with legitimate interest over the summer are Man U and Chelsea.

I think everything happening today and this past year is setting up for one of the most ridiculous Transfer windows a summer has ever seen.

Bayern is going to be making big moves to shore up defense and possibly a midfielder.
What happens with Messi?
What happens with PSG (Mbappe/Neymar)?
Real Madrid is probably going to be major sellers and buyers depending on what they do with Zidane
RB Leipzig will probably sell their two biggest stars who will each be 60+ million euros
Erling Haaland will most likely be moving to the EPL (or Real?) from Dortmund
I can see Man City trying to reload
Will Chelsea be buyers again to shore up defense?

I don't even keep up with Serie A but nothing I said above includes anything to happen with the big boys in Italy.

This is just the calm before the storm IMO.

There was a lot of speculation that Altidore was going to be moving on from Toronto, but absolutely nothing realistic was even peeped at yesterday.

Still can happen within MLS just not with Euro clubs. May also be possibility with Liga MX clubs as well.

Not sure how much money the clubs have to spend over the summer. The January window was drastically reduced in terms of spend and I don't see a lot of cash to be thrown around this summer given the financial constraints all clubs are operating under.

Only downside to Richards and Dike moves are clubs don't have to release them for Olympic qualifying. Reynolds may be in the same boat but I don't think Roma is counting on him contributing right away. He may be released for qualifying.

I agree. I think transfer fees will be lower for many years to come.

I think we'll see more:
1) Loans with options to buy for more modest fees.
2) Clubs renewing contracts of young players and giving them more chances in the first team.
3) Clubs not-renewing contracts of old players with high salary demands (I have zero doubt that players will be greedy and not adjust their salary demands to match the new financial realities).
4) Based on #3, an increase in free transfers.
5) In the same vein, an increase in clubs mutually terminating contracts with players and agreeing to pay part of their salary just to get them off the books.
6) And finally, more player trading (and/or using players to help lower transfer fees).

One of my questions just got answered (doesn't mean something can't happen) but Neymar just signed a 4 year extension with PSG. Probably takes a move off the board this summer.

Maybe this will turn into another Bundesliga thread where we basically have it to ourselves, LC.

Looks like I was partially wrong on the Upamecano saga. Updates:

1) ManU are supposedly out of the race now; but interested in the aforementioned Konate.
2) The race is purportedly a 3 team race between Bayern, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Also just to clarify a point you made earlier - Upamecano's release clause is widely accepted to be around 42M Euro; The rumored figures for Sabitzer seem to be in the upper 30's, thanks to Covid. So Leipzig will probably get about 80M for both rather than 120M+.

Yeah, it seems to me we could move most of these threads to PM haha

I would love him at Bayern. We need a mainstay on our backline in a bad way. I'm a little concerned he wants to get out of Germany though. I bet he's Liverpool or Chelsea bound with my money on Chelsea being the final destination. Although could you imagine a backline with Upamecano, Virgil, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and (insert other back here)?

Announcers in Leipzig game just announced this:

Congrats. I was selfishly hoping he'd go to the Premier League, but it's probably better for him to stay in Germany.

On the plus side for me, Angelino's appearance today for Leipzig triggered his purchase clause for 18M Euro, so his loan from City is now permanent. He's one of my favorite players.
