Olympic tune up match and Germany walked off alleging racial abuse. Germany coach says the Hondurans apologized, the Honduran Twitter feed says it was a misunderstanding.

So Honduran players were calling Germans "Crackers?" "Honky?" I don't get it - Honduras is like 85% black.

Well this was the player that claimed racial abuse:

So I doubt "honky" was the phrase used.

There was an incident a while back in one of the European leagues surrounding the term "negrito." Okay in Latin America, not so much elsewhere. Wonder if this was the same problem.

I bet you're right. Spanish work for black might be considered offensive to those who don't know or don't care.

Perhaps it was also in the context of "hey negrito, what are you doing on a white team" kind of a thing. Which is racist all the way around even if it was done in the spirit of "hey you're one of us."
