Texas Aggie Soccer returns to action this afternoon at 3PM at Ellis Field as they host the UTEP Miners in another tune up match. The game will be broadcast live on SEC+.

UTEP should be marginally better than Sam Houston, but they're still an inferior side. The Miners are 1-4 on the season. They tallied their first win of the season on Friday at Incarnate Word (1-0). They opened the season with 4 straight one goal losses. Losses came to Texas Tech (0-1), Abilene Christian (0-1), Nevada (1-2), UC Davis (2-3).

UTEP returned their All Conference USA Freshman Team defender, Cayman Tamez (#19) as a player to watch. Senior forward Vic Bohdan (#10) also nabbed third team All Conference USA honors in 2020.

Overall, UTEP has been outscored 7-4 and outshot 78-36. Three goalkeepers have split time for the Miners. In all, they have totalled 22 saves and have a 1.4 goal against average.

This is the first match between the two sides.

It's Youth Sunday, so I'm hoping for a lot of confetti. For the kids, of course.

Pretty decent crowd today on the west side. As a reminder, fans are able to fill in on the west side in vacant seats 15 minutes after kickoff.

Geczik was great moving forward out of the defense and played well at outside mid.
I am really liking how Hayes is progressing. She plays hard and is showing some nice skill.
Pante needs to pull the trigger and not try to dribble as much.
Able hit several poor corners but that free kick was outstanding.
Defense was solid with really only one major issue when we only had two starters in and neither of them were in their starting spots.

The second half is how we should handle this level of opponent.

I agree that Geczik is really developing into a key player for us. Her crosses are very good but we need someone to connect with them. She is starting to play a lot like Lopez did last year. She needs to take every corner going forward for sure.

Abel's free kick was pretty incredible and should have been a goal.

Colvin continues to play well, which is crucial as the midfield needs a lot of help.

Katie Smith finally proved that she is human and not a machine. She was actually beaten today for a goal. Don't get used to it though.

Good to hear Olivieri's injury is not severe because that would have torpedoed the season.

Not seeing many of the girls subbed in the second half was mind-blowing. There should not have been any player who did not get minutes in that heat once we had a two goal lead, especially with the exit/reenter option in the 2nd half. 3 games in 6 days should have made this common sense, but maybe not.

On Colvin's goal it looked like 2 of our players were faking out the keeper and the ball went through them, but at the radio show tonight G said the 2 players bumped into each other.
