Texas Aggie Soccer returns home for another SEC matchup on Sunday. The Ags face Ole Miss at 3PM on Sunday afternoon.
Ole Miss brings a 9-2-2 record to Ellis Field and a 4-1 conference record. The Rebels are not currently ranked, but are #5 in the RPI.
Though they've only stumbled a couple of times, the Ole Miss losses have been lopsided with an 0-3 loss to UCF and a 1-4 loss at Arkansas. Conference wins have included Alabama (3-1), LSU (2-0), Florida (1-0), and most recently and most notably South Carolina (2-1).
Ole Miss has outscored opponents this season 24-17. A slew of seniors leads Ole Miss in offensive categories.
Senior midfielder Haleigh Stackpole actually had a hand in the majority of those goals herself. Stackpole has 13 assists on the season, which puts her at #2 in the country. She also has 3 goals.
Fifth year senior Channing Foster has the team high in shots and shots on goal. She's been on the field for Ole Miss for all but 9 minutes of play this season. She comes in with an even balance of 5 goals and 5 assists on the season.
Another fifth year senior, Molly Martin leads the team in goals with 7 on the season.
I'll also throw junior Mo O'Connor in here because she has 5 goals on the season, but more notably has tallied a goal in four out of five conference games. And has an assist in the only conference game she didn't score in. O'Connor is on fire in conference play.
Another senior plays between the posts for Ole Miss. Ashley Orkus has allowed 17 goals across 13 games while totaling 45 saves. Ole Miss has 3 shutouts on the season (Western Kentucky, LSU, and Florida).
Texas A&M is 7-2-2 against Ole Miss all-time and are on a 4 game unbeaten streak against the Rebels. Last season, A&M beat Ole Miss 3-0 in Oxford.
The strength of Ole Miss comes in their scoring. Their goals come from a variety of experienced players that have played together for years. This should be a good test for A&M whose strength had been more on the defensive end of the field. Even if the defense falters, A&M is looking dangerous on the offensive end once again and the Ole Miss defense is certainly susceptible. Let's hope A&M can carry over the momentum they gained in Baton Rouge, get a couple goals, and get a win and a boost in the RPI.
