So, I know not many here follow or care about Burnley. But, this is craziness. Sean Dyche has pretty much single-handedly kept that club in the EPL for years. Now, 8 games from the end of the season and he's sacked!

My best guess is that he's due some loyalty bonus or something because it literally makes no sense to send him packing now.

If you go back and read about the club, they were taken over by an American hedge fund ALK in 2021. In doing so, they pretty much copied the Glazer's leveraged buyout of ManU by purchasing the club with its own money and leveraging a bunch of debt on the club and grounds.

Only thing I can figure is that they really want to go down and rebuild the thing. They have invested little into the club, sold off their best striker to Newcastle at winter transfer, and have not really looked like a club who want to stay up.

Probably good for Dyche, honestly, he will have his pick of clubs this summer and doesn't have to go through watching his team relegated.

That sucks and is ridiculous. Burnley is a great story and Dyche is a great coach making his way with the hand he's dealt.

Didn't realize they'd been bought.

I guess if they had only been bought by ME oil $$$, things would be different.

there's no way ALK wants to go down. the only reason they would is if they are literally trying to sink the club.

check out this article. the description of the former owner's careful husbandry of the club is a pretty big crock of crap considering it looks like he built up that cash position just to pay himself on the way out. but, otherwise, it's pretty damning of how ALK went about the acquisition. they added debt to the club and the grounds. it's almost as if they wanted the club to fail. then, they could knock down the stadium.

And on a Friday no less. If you're getting rid of him because you don't think he can keep you out of relegation, then why didn't you dump him right after Norwich? Now you're giving a new manager less than 2 days to prepare for a game against West Ham and you're throwing away one out of your 8 remaining chances to gain ground on Everton.

I hope Burnley goes down. He's Simeone with no budget. Negative football and hard fouls.
