Howdy Guys, I've recently gotten into soccer. I'd love to read an Aggie girl's soccer team preview from some of you more avid followers of the sport. Also to any LAFC or Manchester City fans, what's up!

Practice should be starting next week. I believe Mia Pante will not be with the team for a few weeks because she is playing for Canada at the U-20 World Cup. Lauren Geczik was injured in the final exhibition game so I hope she is okay. Should have 2 new players who were not here in the spring, Eloise Descheneaux and Bella Lister.

In the same story on 12thman.com it was announced that Lori Stephenson had retired.
Yeah, I was thrilled when I got the push notification about Mautzy. Then the article mentioned Lori's retirement, so that's bittersweet.
Aggie Soccer Twitter has a video taken during a recent photo shoot.
I was looking at the AD openings last week and saw Soccer - Coaching Assistant and thought did someone leave, but Phil and Lori were still on the staff page. I guess they mislabeled the opening.

Hopefully this year is when we make our return to the Tourney. Not entirely sure how our team is shaping out to be as I didn't do a great job of following the ladies last season. But I'm hoping for the best.

United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll is out. Ranked teams on our schedule are 25 Clemson, 7 TCU, 8 Arkansas, 18 Mississippi and 12 South Carolina.

We did not get a single ranked vote
I did not expect us to be ranked after finishing with a RPI of 81, not making the conference tournament, and our best player turning pro. But the opportunity is there. The TCU game here on September 8 will be huge.

Coach G was on Louie Belina's radio show this morning. The team is practicing once per day in the evening, finishing about 8:30. The entrance to Ellis Field from the baseball stadium side is closed due to construction of the indoor track. The entrances are only on the Reed Arena side.
There are some soccer podcasts on 12thman.com. David Ellis has about 9 minute interviews with Georgia Leb, Quinn Cornog, Eloise Descheneaux, Sydney Becerra and Coach Ahmad Brown.
Is this a ncaa tournament team, a sweet 16 team, G never thinks any of our teams can win a Natty, he's said a lot of times he can't recruit with the Carolina, FSU, and other programs passing him by.
Hopefully the 4 year extension gets him back to the elite 8 where we normally hangout every year except last year

I like their man city's kits. But I'm not a big fan. I'm definitely a big LAFC fan, luckily I jumped on them in December before all of their moves. Not that I'm from LA, but I like the chargers and LAFC had blessing who I took a liking too. Now I like a bunch of players like cifuentes and arango
Top Drawer Soccer has been putting out conference previews, and today they did the SEC. Here is what Travis Clark wrote about us:
"By the lofty standards of the Aggie soccer program, it was a down year last fall, missing out on the NCAA Tournament. To be fair, it was an extremely young squad, which means this year's group has plenty of experience back, including Maile Hayes and Mia Pante (the latter on U20 World Cup duty with Canada). Senior Katherine Smith and Karlina Sample anchor the team at the back, and their experience and leadership will be important for a talented group that should have the pieces in place to significantly improve."

Do they predict us to win the SEC?
Top Drawer Soccer did not make any predictions in the article. I would expect the SEC coaches to make their picks next week and Chris Henderson of All White Kit is making predictions but he hasn't done the SEC yet. He did say on a podcast a week ago that he expects Arkansas and UT to be the top teams in the SEC.

These are pretty impressive, but out dated. They probably have another one for last year.
Those are hanging on outside of their indoor track facility. So since we're moving ours by soccer this should mean we should be able to recruit on their levelAnchorhold said:

I think that is FSU's indoor football facility. Most everyplace I've been to has a nicer looking indoor football facility than we do.
The unique thing about Ellis Field is there are seats on all 4 sides. The worst Power 5 soccer stadium I have been to is Southern Cal. They've won 2 national championships there and no one in the administration noticed.

Facilities was constantly used as an excuse for Jo Evans so we built her a palace. How did that work out.
Kansas has a beautiful soccer facility. They can't recruit for poop. Oklahoma State's just opened up brand new last season and it's beautiful too. They upgraded after having the locker rooms for home, visiting, and referees in an abandoned 1960s apartment complex next to the field for 10 years. They don't have better players than us and Colin Carmichael has been there for decades.

Recruiting against UNC has nothing to do with facilities. It's the brand you're against. UNC established themselves as the premiere program before many schools even had a team. They've capitalized on that to continue to win championships, put out star athletes, and maintain the brand. It's hard for anyone to compete with that.
