Usually about the 3rd quarter, the dreaded circles come on, stop the game, and last to the end of the game- rarely do they disappear. Don't have this problem on other channels. Or other TVS in the next room.

Is it the SEC Plus broadcast, Dish, the TV.?
Any help appreciated!

Well…to determine if the Dish device and app are the issue (it smells like a memory leak in their app at first blush since you experience late), You would have to stream with another device side by side. But who is your internet provider and what is your downstream rate???

This is where I note that I strongly prefer not to use smart TVs or captive apps in set top boxes just due to frustration with their update cycles. You might also need to stimulate an update to the ESPN app on the Dish set top box. Possibly this can be done by deleting it as an app and then redownloading.

On a phone or appletv at this point I would recommend deleting the app and redownloading first, but I can't really speak with authority on you set up. But if you try some of this and then want to ask more questions, I'll try to research more.

Dish doesn't have watch ESPN app as far as I know. What are you using to access the ESPN app?
My older fire sticks can get some buffering issues. You can try removing unused apps, clearing the cache, and updaing the ESPN app. I have a Roku tv that I have never had issues with buffering, sometimes doesn't get HD signal, but I'm on rural internet so I blame that.

Dish does have access to the ESPN app. I use it all the time with my Firesticks and have used it with Roku too. If you meant the DISH receiver itself doesn't have the ESPN app, then that's correct.

The OP can just get one of the FireStick 4K or Firestick 4K MAX. I never have buffering issues with those. Of course... if you have a poor internet connection, that can cause buffering too. FYI ....if you have an old Firestick already, you can trade it in for a 20% discount on a new one.

I was talking about the dish receiver. Dish just gives you access to the watch espn app on some other platform and would have no impact on how well watch espn was working.

Do you notice any better performance with the firestick 4k max? Do you have Wifi 6?
The two main firesticks I use are the regular 4k sticks. I have one of the older non 4k sticks and it is slow.

Thanks to all! Since no one else has this problem, it has to be my setup.

The next game on sec plus is VB tomorrow so I will try some of your suggestions.

Turns out I receive ESPN PLUS thru AT&T U-verse.
Being computer illiterate, I'm not able to answer most of your questions.
Probably best to get someone on the ground.
Many thanks to all for your help!

BigJim: same basic concept applies

1. When you run an ESPN app (phone/tablet, smartTV, or probably even the internal DISH app if you run it on their settop box), use AT&T as your TV PROVIDER and use your AT&T sign in credentials.

2. On the off chance you also have an ESPN+ subscription either direct or through a Hulu/Disney+/ESPN+ bundle use the Disney+ credentials ONLY for the ESPN account login (not TV Provider.) This is the same email / password combo as you use for Disney+ but usually isn't the same as Hulu.

At that point look for any existing SEC+ content and try streaming it.

Should work. But might have to do some iteration to get it to work.

Let me know if you make progress or where you get stopped.

I guess I should note: if AT&T uverse is the source of your SECN licensing. The TV Provider is checked when you authenticate to see if you are licensed. So you have to select the correct TV Provider based on which provider grants you SECN access (and they also must offer streaming access, but today almost all offer both in a single tier.)
