Given that this is purely mathematical (Elo rating system) and its only purpose is seeding for future competitions, I'm not sure why there's so much handwringing over it.

Without going into the myriad ways that the FIFA ranking system is utterly ridiculous, let's just look at what was posted. Argentina would be number 1. But because they went to pens it does not count as an outright win. So Brazil is 1.

One of the internet's favorite past times is to get upset about rankings/polls. Add in that it's FIFA and of course we get this.

I agree. Who is #1 is pretty irrelevant and it's otherwise 100% not worth worrying or caring about right now
