Random question... do any of you have any connections or contacts to the Austin FC boys academy program? We are looking to move back to Texas and want to understand the process of how kids are selected or chosen for this club.

Appreciate any help!

I read the team's site to make sure, but most MLS-affiliated junior academy programs scout for players at club tourneys and through their connections with coaches. They'll typically hold open tryout events from time to time as well. Looks like you can fill out a form on their website to initiate a dialogue, but I have no idea how responsive they are to that avenue of talent ID.

It's invite only. They scout local Jr. Academy and Select teams and send invites out.

They have historically pulled heavily from Lonestar due to a relationship with them; but as I understand it they are letting that agreement expire. They've been pulling more heavily from Barca Academy recently; as I understand it.

I can also say that I know one of the Assistant Coaches for Austin FC has his younger kid in Barca Academy; and his older kid was as well until he got invited to Austin FC academy.
