My guess he leaves for Manchester United because Real Madrid has already gone all in on Bellingham and is out of money this window. Plus, Al-Thani will want a splash hire at Old Trafford in his first window as owner.

He isn't going anywhere this year. His contract is up in June 2024. My guess is Real Madrid will win the sweepstakes. I'm not sure if Harry Kane will end up there or not but a partnership of Kane and am apple would be lethal.

If he won't extend, they don't have much choice but to cash in this summer rather than let him walk for nothing next summer.

At the end of the day he can always refuse any move by not signing a contract and there isn't anything PSG can do about it

I'm not sure they would let him go on a free transfer. Not everyone lives in fantasyland and refuses to accept reality like Levy and Spurs. That said, if he goes to either United or Real Madrid, I don't think either will have enough FFP room to get both Mbappe and Kane. And Kane will probably want to stay in the Premier League in order to break the scoring record.

I think Mbappe does eventually end up at Real Madrid, though, one way or another. Would he go to United for a year? His salary alone is insane. It's hard to find a firm number, depending on the source, but it's in the neighborhood of a million euros per week (or more). So I don't see it for United. But, if Qatar does buy United, maybe it happens (it probably doesn't even then). I would guess Real Madrid is more able to afford his salary than United (Sancho, Martial, Maguire, Fred and others outside the starting XI have pretty big contracts).

Here's why I don't think he will leave this summer. PSG has absolutely no leverage here. They previously have stated that they want a big price tag for Mbappe if he leaves. Some reports say even up to $200M. So either PSG sell him at a loss which they still may try to ask $150+M for him or they let him walk for free next summer. I'm not sure of a team that would be willing to drop that cash outside of maybe chelsea.

PSG have zero leverage but it's not about the price tag they set on him. PSG can accept a $500m offer for him and he can still say no. Next summer, he'll be able to pick whichever of the 10 clubs in Europe that are able to afford his wages he wants to go to(the Saudis can probably offer more). He makes an ungodly amount of money each year and will continue to make an ungodly amount of money at the next team he goes to. Making an ungodly amount of money gives you the ability to not care about going to the team with the highest offer and consider fit, lifestyle, etc. If he wants to take 20m less to play for Chelsea/MU/Liverpool because it's the best "fit" for his abilities, he can do that and he'll still be making an ungodly amount of money.

I don't know where you saw that, but it is (allegedly) not their position now; they are apparently saying they would not let him leave for free, which pretty much means they have until the end of the summer to sign a new deal or make a transfer deal to another club.

I don't think Real Madrid is going to roll into next season without a Benzema replacement. They don't buy Bellingham if that's all they feel they can afford. I guess it's possible they spend 50 million instead of 100 million on forward but you're not getting a proven forward for 50 million and that's what they need. Feels like the most likely outcome is Mbappe (even though he's not a direct replacement for Benzema or same type of player, I don't think RM would mind). They've been linked with him for years and he fits their profile nicely. If he's not at PSG in September, it feels like the most likely would be there.

I could see a scenario where Qatar throws a boatload of money at him if they purchase United in order to make a statement signing. But I think everyone in world football will be linked to Man United if Qatar buy the club so hard to know exactly which players will end up landing there.

Ummm, Madrid's not out of money this transfer window. They lost Benzema, Asensio, Hazard, Diaz, and likely more before the window closes. He'll sign with Madrid in the coming weeks since PSG won't let him walk on a free transfer next summer.

Yeah I've never quite understood the "not gonna let someone leave for free" line.

And the player contract part is just one side of it. Valuation is a two-way street. If PSG think he's worth 200MM with only a year left on his contract and if PSG can't find another quality striker that's a fit, then it can be just as valuable to them to keep him for another year. If they're saying his last year is worth X, then it could equally be worth their own X to eat the cost and use him as a player.

Very few teams will be able to afford the transfer + salary. Only real options are Real, England or Saudi Arabia (purely from a financial standpoint). Real makes too much sense... need to replace Benzema, been linked previously, title contender and UCL contender. Saudi is unlikely due to it being a lessor league and having no access to UCL. Within England the only options are City, United or Arsenal. He would typically be outside of Arsenal's price range & wage structure but they just finished in 2nd, are one of the more exciting teams to watch at the moment and their owner just won his 4th championship (in 4 different sports) so he could go all in to try and win the EPL. City to me would feel like a Lebron joining the Heat kind of move. ManU would make since (need a ST) if their new ownership can get in in time to fund the deal.

If I was a betting man, I would put my money on Real with an outside shot at ManU.

PSG's asking price is $150M. The realistic options for his signature are Saudi Arabia, Real Madrid and City. Considering that FFP doesn't apply to city. But like I said earlier I don't think he moves. Even if a team has a bid accepted Mbappe has to agree to the terms of the bid.
