And which club would they want to gift the next decade of MLS Cups to? It'll be good for them and for the league....but suck for fans of the rest of the teams.

True, but the sacrifice that would have to happen if this thing was ever going to rise to an elite level. If I'm the MLS I'd be doing everything possible to make this happen.

If he comes here, its only to one of 5-6 teams anyways...and its not anywhere in the South or the Midwest.

MLS isn't actually trying to get him. Someone asked Garber if they'd try and get him and he basically just said "Yeah if Mbappe wanted to come we'd figure it out" and bored clickbait artists in the middle of silly season ran with it.

He wants a Ballon D'or and a CL trophy. He obviously could get neither in MLS. He would basically be pissing his entire legacy away. Messi has cemented his legacy already. He is doing this for fun and because his family likes it in Miami. The two scenarios are completely different.
