After a less than stellar 2025 season and an even less stellar than that off-season, we finally have our first bit of potential good news with the possibility of obtaining Mateusz Bogusz from Cruz Azul (Formerly LAFC). Upon doing some research it seems as tho he was a decent piece for LAFC but never really came online for Cruz Azul. Also worth noting that Fox Deportes has reported as of 3 days ago that he is not currently practicing with Cruz Azul.

Would be nice to get him on transfer but considering how much money this is going to cost, it will probably be pushed into DP territory.

What, if anything, do y'all think the Dynamo need to do this season to put butts back in seats? Or are they just in a waiting game to get to the new schedule, cooler weather and, potential post WC attendance boom?

Pre-Season Update:

Lucas Halter arrives from Botafogo:

They need to win. Simple as. And we just don't have the players.

The Dynamo have always failed to compete for the big DP signings that will also boot attendance. Players abroad prefer the teams in southern California, NY, and Miami. Houston just isn't an attractive destination.
Houston's historical DPs I can think of off the top of my head:
  • Luis ngel Landn
  • Boniek Garca
  • Giles Barnes
  • DaMarcus Beasley
  • Teenage Hadebe
  • Sebastin Ferreira
  • Hctor Herrera
  • Ondej Lingr
Did any of these meaningfully impact the team and raise the team to another level? I would argue the only ones who made any significant impact have been Boniek Garcia (who last played meaningful mins in 2020) and Giles Barnes (who left in 2016). I think the rest have failed to move the needle.

Looking at our current roster for the new season, I'm not feeling inspired.

I'm also not feeling great about the roster and unsure how it would need to be tackled in the future. I understand the difficulty in getting foreign players to come here over Miami, So-Cal or New York without overpaying, but signing a 25 year old off of a Liga MX team is a step in the right direction IMO. We're never going to be able get the big ticket players so going for guys with a possible upside is about all we can do. Sucks that we might have to dip into DP money for 'potential' tho lol.

On paper, almost nothing to be excited about but the MLS has a funny way of being weird almost every year so we will just have to see.
