I wasn't afraid of the Lakers...till about half an hour ago.

I wasn't before, but now I am legitimately concerned. Great deal for them. Bad news for the rest of the league.

Hmmm. Any possiblity Swift is a pawn in the 3-team trade deal? I still haven't given up on Kidd to Dallas.

By the way- this immediately puts the lakers amongst the leagues best 3-4 teams, IMO. Probable title contenders.

I want to see how they play together before I throw them in the top 3.

Only once has he had a team that looked good "on paper" but didn't win a title. And I just don't see Gasol as being a chemistry killer.

So the Lakers get a premier low post scorer and get to dump the worst contract/player on the team? Wow. Where was Jerry West in all this? I thought he left Memphis.

No one knows how good Gasol could be if he doesn't have to be the go to guy and plays next to another good center, but the potential is huge.

Conspiracy Theory: Remember how Kobe demanded that West be reinstalled as GM during his summer meltdown? Maybe West told him "Thanks for the compliments Kobe, but how about I just privately convince Memphis to take Kwame Brown for Gasol if you commit to the Lakers"

I'm not sure on this one, could somebody look it up for me; when were the finals held in 2008? Were they held in January that year?

From what I understand, they are held in June each year but if that's the case, Simplebay would be completely full of ****.
