I wish I could say I hate to see him go, but I really don't. He's the ultimate coat-tailer.

I wouldn't call him the ultimate coat-tailer. He contributed nicely for a couple of years. He was the consummate professional, and I'm glad we helped him get a championship. But I'm indifferent towards his departure. Maybe this will open things up for Malik.

Anyone know who would want to pick him up?

Can he still drain the 3?

Finley has been the slowest basketball player on the planet for 2 years.

...after Lomers, I mean. But that goes without saying.

I would call Gary Payton the ultimate coat-tailer. And it's not even close.

And on the Spurs, I've decided to abandon ship on them already. Even though I know they have turned it on the last 2 months in the past, all signs are pointing to a 1st round exit again.

Jefferson wasn't what the Spurs thought he would be, and with Tony Parker disappearing this year with injuries, things look bleak.

I hope someone will bump this later when the Spurs make me look stupid.

He averaged a career high last year in 3 pt. percentage shooting over 40%. I doubt that he could get into rhythm soon enough to contribute though.

Also, this leaves the Spurs roster at 12. Isn't the league minimum 13?

I think it's gonna take a time-machine to turn the Spurs around.

I don't know...if there's one think Finley can still contribute, it is knocking down the wide-open 3, Steve Kerr style. Put him on the Cavs and he could probably hit a lot of shots.

I must have been in a bad mood yesterday. I've no ill will for Finley, and I think it was great that he won a title with the Spurs while being paid by Cuban...I just think they would have won it without him.

Fin is officially a Celtic.

He's going to hit a boatload of threes there. Lots of guys to take the pressure off him.

Where is this playing time supposed to come from? Daniels, Tony Allen, and Robinson (when he plays two) will be in front of him. I think it's going to be the same situation there. Maybe he'll get about 5 more mins of playing time, if that. If he gets more I'd be really surprised.

Spurs have a better shot at a ring than the Celtics- Finley will sit on the bench in Boston too as he has nothing left

As a Mavs fan (but a big basketball fan in general) I don't see the Spurs getting out of the first round this year, but I wouldn't be too concerned long term. Yes the team is aging and may not win 50 games (after doing so 10 years in a row!!!!!), but when you have a front office and head coach like the Spurs you may be down, but you'll never be out. TP should be healthy next year and they'll find a way to attract another key cog to the rotation. One thing the Spurs have been able to do the last decade has been be one of the best TEAMS without being one of the most talented teams.

No reason to get too down.

Do any Spurs fans (or other fans) think that there is any decent sized chance that the Spurs fall out of the playoffs and one of the other 3 Southwest teams jumps over them?

Or are the playoff teams pretty much locked in, even if the seeding isn't.

they're 6 games ahead in the loss column on the 9th seed

No need to hold me accountable, Texags. I am back for a warm and hardy bowl of crow.

You can just call me a bandwagoner.
