Spurs need to do a better job getting to the boards better ball movement and scoring inside the paint. Mavs didn't shoot well just killed us with second chance points. Good win see ya in SA.

Yea, hopefully the home court will get some of our role players going. Our ball movement has been HORRID. Even we were trying to move the ball we weren't playing very crisp, and lazy, stupid passes lead to Dallas points. Spurs can't win if they aren't going to bucket and swinging the ball.

I just don't think Duncan and Manu can have three horrible games in a row, but you never know.

I suspect they were never planning on winning this one.

Look for a much better-played game in San Antonio.

i think it will be a hard fought game... I can't see my Mavs going down to the Spurs w/out a fight.

I figured this game would be a loss once Mason and Bonner came in 5 minutes into the 1st quarter.

Pop took another chance- Mavs played well and were desperate and responded at home-

he has done this before we shall see if it pays off this time

That would certainly explain it. I need to call Pop and tell him to let me know when he is just going to mail it in, so at least I won't get pissed at watching them stink it up.

You didn't know the Spurs were going to mail it in?

Didn't bring their brains, intensity, sharpness, or testicles with them. May as well have forfeited. That lack of effort and execution deserved a whipping, and they damned sure got it.

The series is Game 6.

Of course I had thought they would mail it in. But I had hoped that Pop wouldn't pull that with an aging group. I always expect them to win.

Meh, I wouldn't say the series is game 6. Sure, it's their best chance to win it, but if there is a game 7, the Spurs will come to play.

I don't like our chances in a game 7. Gotta win it in 6. I think we will.

It's not often you see a team go 6-24 from three and win by 25. Weird stat.

SA has to close out in game 6 (I think they will) or Dallas wins game 7 in a blowout

Well mavs fans atleast you got to see your team end their season with a win at home. Series is over in SA write that one down.

Well, Duncan and Manu need to show up. They have been pretty non-exsistent for about 8 quarters now. One of them needs to take the game over.

I really think Manu's nose is bothing him. Duncan looked disinterested tonight, but Manu just stunk it up for the second game in a row

TP was very good though

Parker was good for Parker. We have got to get other people involved. To many times in that intial run to start the third we took quick shots without moving the ball. Parker started trying to bring us back by himself.

It is pretty easy to win shooting so bad from three by that much when you are aggressive and you get alot of second chance points off those misses. It also doesn't hurt when your opponent forgets the object of the game is to get the ball through the hoop.

I dont think Duncan still has the ability to take the game over. At least, not like he used to...

If there is a game 7, Dallas won't win in a blowout.

Parker shot 6 of 15. Not that great a night for him either

You are probably right, at least on the offensive end. I still think he can be pretty dominant on the defensive side of the ball though. Manu has got to be the one on offense.

There have been a lot of weird stats in this series. In Game 3 (I think it was game three), the Spurs were outscored 24-0 from behind the arc and still won.

I bet Cuban told Carlisle to play Haywood the whole game. Dampier has really been killin the mavs on both sides of the court. I can't believe it took this long to make this change. Dallas wouldn't have been down 3-1 had Haywood played this much all series. And I just assumed Carlisle was the one keeping Dampier in the lineup. I was callin for his job had he let this series slip away, because he didn't have the lineup right. I know that has nothing to do with Butler putting up 35, but that's what he does when he's on. And you'd be suprised how often he's feelin it. This is nothing like Hill going off last game.
Ulrich

I hate to burst your bubble but 35 is not "just what Butler does when he is on." He has one 30 point game this season and averaged 15 ppg.

In fact, over the last month counting the playoffs, Butler averaged 13.5 ppg on .429 shooting with .706 A/T ratio while Hill averaged 13.0 ppg on .500 shooting with an A/T ratio of 2.0. I believe over the last month of the regular season Hill actually had a higher scoring average than Butler, but don't want to actually calculate that out.

Butler was coasting into the playoffs while SA and Hill were tryin to just get in the playoffs over that last month. Dallas can bring this back.

Caron has played 560 games.

Caron has scored 35 only six times in his career.

Caron has never scored 35 in the playoffs before.

Yeah, that's just what he does when he's on.

I disagree to an extent. I don't think he can do it as often as he used to, but I would point to game 2 of this series in the fourth quarter as evidence he still has the ability to take over. He willed the Spurs to a victory in the last 8 minutes or so of game 2.

I think what he meant was that Butler going for 35 wasn't as improbable as George Hill going for 31 in the previous game.

Well, Hill scored 29. The last time he scored 30 was March 31st.

The last time Butler scored 30? Feb 5th before he was even on the Mavs.
Ulrich
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Hill had exactly as many 30 point games this year as Butler, and averages more 30 point games/season than Butler does. Butler is not this monster scoring force that the Mavs seem to think he is. He's a decent scorer, probably best as a third option.

Hill was an anomaly in game 4. Butler was an anomaly in game 5.

the difference maker is duncan (when he took over). parker's anomaly happened at the end of game 2 with the 3 long jumpshots under 2 minutes left in the game.

duncan looks pretty bad right now. game 6... you can't rely on anomalies, you gotta go to your bread and butter. and if the spurs are gonna win game 6, duncan needs to return to form.
