There is no way he could ever win a championship after humping the leg of a player during the little "brawl". The bball gods will never allow that.

Carlisle will be back next year. I know Avery is still on the payroll, with Carlisle and another coach that's just crazy. Cuban may be alot of things but he's not a bad business man and I imagine at some point profitability or at least solvency has to be an issue, given how far we are over the soft cap. I don't know all the facts.

What made it even better was the stringy comb-over that he had back then. He looked like Bill Murray in Kingpin after all of that was over.

What's crazy is even if Cuban decided to go after a coach who had won a championship, there just aren't many. The only active guys who have done so are Pop, Phil, Larry Brown and Doc Rivers. Pat Riley is the other semi-active guy out there. Its a very small group. Brown is seemingly always available but very old. Doc could be looking for a change at some point.

Yeah, I'll instantly dislike whatever team hires JVG as a coach because he's way too much fun as an announcer.

swallow your pride, get rid of dirk, bring in some players that know defense, and then bring back the little general...

quote:
as the next coach of the Mavs. Dude can coach teams with lots of talent. The only reason why the rockets did not make it far with him was because the nucleus was around Yao and they could not do anything about it. And Van Gundy knows how to coach defense, something us Dallas fans do not know with this team.

Rivers seems to be a good motivator/team leader. I want to say he coached a pretty feisty Orlando team full of scrubs to a 500 ballclub the season before TMac and Grant Hill signed there. Getting that entire Celtics team to buy in for their championship run was pretty impressive as well. Say what you will about his Xs and Os but the guy gets his teams to play their heart out.

JVG actually did a great job w/ the Rockets. His problem was his go to guy was not a closer. Replace McGrady w/ another "superstar" and the team would have won more in the playoffs. Not saying they would have won championships, but would have at least won a few series. Hell, he gave the Lakers championship team fits one year w/ Francis and Mobley.

I'm not sure where the Doc Rivers hate comes from. What else does he have to do?

-He won a championship with a brand new squad in their first year together.
-His team plays crazy defense even when Garnet is not in there.
-See last year. Lost Garnet and Perkins and still pushed Orlando into a long series.
-See this year. Cleveland is not going to win easily, if they win at all.
-Rondo has developed into a monster under Doc.

Honestly, I love the guy as a coach. I know some Boston fans have some dislikes but those are mostly based on the couple of years he was in Boston before they started winning. He's proven now. My only beef with him is I wish he could keep his players from being total d-bags all the time. I just couldn't see a Popovich or Phil Jackson coached team acting that way.
