This was a worrisome win for Phoenix... if San Antonio figures out a way to hang in there when Parker is out it's going to get really rough for Phoenix.

I am thinking Pop loses three straight and then pulls a Boston and wins four in a row to become the first NBA team to come back from 0-3. It would only be fitting for this "rivalry".

Seriously though, this is going to be another fun series!

Did you bookmark the similar statements that I and other Spurs fans made after game 1 of the Spurs/Mavs series?

Phoenix should have won by more, but stop acting like SA played awful. They played some pretty dynamite basketball for much of the second ahlf and went cold during two stretches

nope, but i also knew that it would be an uphill climb as Dallas struggled to score mightily in Game 1. For whatever reason they couldnt adjust, the Spurs did, and the Mavs just couldnt hit their shots. PHX plays a much better offensive game than Dallas. If I'm a Spurs fan I'm worried.

The Spurs were awful and still came back from 14 down on 2 different occasions. Phoenix should have won by 25.

Pop makes a few adjustments, starts Parker, and the Spurs win game 2. I can't remember ever feeling so good after a Playoff loss
holy crap you sound like one of us Mavs fans

Phoenix's entire team was on fire. For the Spurs, only Parker was particularly hot. The Spurs played uncharacteristically poor defense for large stretches, too. It came down to the last 30 seconds when Phoenix was fired up and playing well at home. Yeah, they like the fact that they won but with these factors they probably would have liked to see a more comfortable margin going into the last 2 minutes.

the Suns scored 56 points in the paint... it's not like they were firing a bunch of jumpers like the Suns of old. This is a much different and better team than the 2005-2007 Suns teams that shot jump shots.

What the Suns did tonight is what they've done for the last six years. Don't expect them to shoot much worse the remainder of the series

Do you think the Spurs will continue to rotate that poorly all series? They'll tighten it up and stop a lot of the open looks and transition points.

That is almost word for word what you said about Dirk after game one. I don't know if you've noticed, but the Spurs adjust better than anyone.

No worse than Phoenix's

Phoenix's wasnt great, either. Both teams had over 20 transition points

Too many 2nd chance opportunities for Phoenix

The Spurs had 9 offensive rebounds, the Suns had 7

Not to mention, the Suns also turned it over 6 more times than SA and shot below their season average from three and from the FT line

Alvin Gentry is no slouch... he'll be ready for Pop's tricks. He's no idiot like Carlisle. The Suns are not like the Mavs where there whole offense is revolved around an iso with Dirk/Caron.

1: This makes no sense in context as we're comparing team shooting to one player's output

2: Dirk dropped 27, 35 and 33 in game's two, three and six. The Spurs didnt contain anything, they just played better.

3: Phoenix shot BELOW their season average from three and they had 56 points in the paint, about half of which were Nash/Stoudamire layups/dunks

No doubt. You'd figure that after many embarrassing tirades on this forum that he'd just save himself the trouble and go elsewhere, but he must be a masochist. Not to mention that his squad is sitting their asses on the couch.

Ultimate difference...Suns hit their wide open shots and Spurs missed too many of the same opportunities.

Over the past 6 seasons, the Suns have shot 46%. Last night they shot 52%. Keep trying, or go hit the lake with the rest of the Mavs.

Spurs just need to tighten up the transition D, and Jefferson/Hill/McDyess have to play better. They shot a combined 31%.

Similar to G1 of the Mavs series, the Spurs got very little production outside of the Big 3. They made adjustments in that series and I expect them to do the same in this one, i.e. improved defensive rotations and the role players stepping up.

the 2 biggest factors in my eyes were the lazy job the spurs were doing in helping each other on D, and Hill on Nash most of the game... Hill is great but he cannot guard Steve Nash. we need to have Parker on Nash all night...

I think both sides are getting a little overexcited. The key is, the Suns have to win both of these first two at home or else they are in a huge hole. The Spurs would really like to steal one but if they don't they basically need to hold serve at home and try to take Game 5. The Suns can absolutely win this series but still the Spurs can play a lot better than they did last night. The Spurs are certainly capable of making life harder for Nash than he had last night, he basically ran through the paint at will. They can also play a lot better transition D. Will they? Not sure, but they are certainly capable. As I was watching that game last night I thought the Spurs were going to lose by 20 but they kept coming back, the fact they almost stole that game is amazing.

Winning last night would have been great for the Spurs but in the big picture it isn't key. Last night was an absolute must win for the Suns based on their fragile mental state and history against the Spurs. It's going to be a fun series to watch.

I want SA to win this series, you putz. I ****ing hate the Suns.

I'm simply pointing out that SA didnt play exceptionally bad and Phoenix didnt play well over their heads as you would have everyone believe.

You guys are all tools. Just discuss the basketball game.

What I saw in game 1 was a San Antonio team that has no answer for the Suns athletic ability. Nash goes by Parker without even a screen, Amare goes by Duncan easily, and the offensive glass is a disaster for SA. Phoenix is making them lok the way Dallas made them look last year.

For the OP, I guess one thing is right - Phoenix will have to choke to lose this series.

Parker and Duncan aren't where these games are being lost, because the four players you mentioned have always put up big numbers in this series; they cancel out. Look at the second string and role players for the real difference.
