Seriously, I just get a huge smile on my face when I see Grant Hill play. He puts his team first, he's a nice guy, he's battled adversity and defied odds to be playing at the level he plays. And the guy is freaking 37 years old.

It's a shame that when he was younger, he never lived up to the super-star promise because of injury after injury. But it's great that he still gets a chance to play the game that he loves.

It's amazing that the Suns first-round win was his first playoff series win ever.

Grant Hill is living proof that hard work and dedication and not giving up when things get bad can pay off. There's a role model for you, Barkley.

I hope Grant gets his second series win ever. He deserves it.

I agree.

I want the Spurs to win badly, but it softens the blow if they lose, that they might lose to character guys like Hill.

I've liked him since his days at Duke. You can tell he's a good person from a good family. Probably a minority in the NBA.

I think his family has had some major medical issues as well.

My dad was a big fan of his Dad with the Cowboys and we have followed Grant since his FR year at Duke.

My second favorite non-Rocket player of all-time. Been a fan of his since I was in 4th grade and he was at Duke. Dude put up 21, 9, and 7 in his third year in the league. Before LeBron, I remember when it was common to speculate whether it would be Hill or Jason Kidd to be the first to average a triple-double for the season since Robertson.

It always infuriated me when people lumped him in with Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter, Steve Francis, Latrell Sprewell, etc. with respect to injuries. People were so angry that he was getting paid so much while he was hurt. Yeah, he was a huge signing, but unlike the 95% of the rest of the league, he didn't take the money and run. I remember reading about him every summer this past decade it seems - he was always working out, rehabbing, training to get back into shape. He never really took a summer off. His goal was always to get back into playing shape to earn his check. Basically, he was the anti-Steve Francis.

It sucked those first few years of the 2000's where he would get healthy, play about 10 games, then get sidelined for the season. Always felt bad for him. He was having a first-ballot HOF'er run for the first half of his career.

I loved watching Grant HIll win his second ever playoff series.

I'd love to see him win over the Lakers, too.

yep, it was something that went thru my mind before the series. i figured there was a good chance we'd be losing but that seeing Hill do well would be fine by me.

it saddens me that such a good guy isn't nearly as well known as so many of the punks in the league. but at least the guy is still chugging along...hell, i though he was going to be washed up with all the injury problems.

I didn't like him as much at Duke merely because he shared the same court with Christian Laettner for a couple of years (call it guilt by association), but he's always been a top-notch guy...glad to see him playing a noticeable role on a team making a deep playoff run.

Interesting fact about Grant: He is the only child of only children, so he has no aunts, uncles or cousins.

Another interesting fact His mother and Hillary Clinton were roommates at Weslyan and His Dad and W. were in the same frat.
