That said, and I'd agree...I don't think picking up Splitter next season is going to put them anywhere near Phoenix, LA, or the East coast powers.

I don't know how the cap space works with trades, but they might want to dangle Jefferson out there and see if anyone bites for some summer 2011 cap room.

Pick up Splitter
Trade Jefferson for someone who cares about the game of basketball, position doesn't matter but preferably a SF
Cut Bonner and Mason if they don't fit into a trade (and it's hard to imagine that anyone will want them)
Watch out for a free agent that will fit in

Noone should be looking at Jefferson, y'all made your bed with that one. Just like the Astros made the bed for Carlos Lee.

I don't know but Jefferson is a waste of salary right now. They brought him in to slash into the lane and play defense and all he'll do is shoot spot up jumpers.

I don't know about Jefferson. That's what I was asking....is it even thinkable?

As far as the NBA draft, I would ask about what their prospects at maybe trading up for a higher pick would be...or what their prospects are for their current draft position....but then I forgot that POP F-ING HATES ROOKIES.

May be able to dump RJ at the trade deadline, but not during the offseason. Sign Splitter, try to get an athletic 3 in the draft to develop for the future.

Spurs just can't defend at the level they need to overcome the limitations on offense. Too many uncontested shots.

The saddest thing is the Lakers will crush the Suns. Man I hate the Lakers.

I don't quite agree with all the speculation that the Lakers can handle the Suns easily. If the Suns keep shooting like they are, they could very well win that series. Sometimes there is only so much you can do defensively, short of knocking one of them the **** out.

The Spurs aren't going to score their way out of what ails them.

The Spurs aren't going to contend for (much less win) championships until they fn DEFEND. Especially at the guard position. George Hill has been TORCHED this series.

Bring Bowen as a coach/consultant/knee breaker/whatever. If he can coach his defensive saavy . . . . .

I agree. Signing Splitter is goal number one (ESPN is reporting that the Spurs are increasingly becoming more confident about bringing him here.). We could really use some consistent rebounding. He would provide this.

Second. We MUST find a shooter. We desperately need someone who can consistently make an outside shot. Hopefully we can grab one by dumping RJ's contract. We simply don't have any outside threats right now. Another option would be grabbing one in the draft as the Spurs have pretty good position.

As for our defense, I really like the way Temple defends. He's a much better defender than Hill on 1's. The key to him will be the development of his offensive game.

And by the way, I think this series has showed us that Hill is an extremely overrated defender.

Just because you may dump Jefferson's contract, it does not mean that money will count against you.
