The only interesting series in the opening round was lakers vs okc. Now 3 of 4 series here are already done. This has been the most boring playoffs that i can remember.

Meh, I prefer it this way, get rid of the garbage early and don't waste time on all of these 7 game series.

I agree. The first two rounds last WAY too long nowadays. The conference finals and finals are the only truly compelling rounds anymore.

Milwaukee-Atlanta was good...just not high-profile.

I think this Boston-Cleveland series has got a lot of gas left in the tank. This could end up being the best series of the playoffs.

This is exactly the reason the NCAA tourney is so great!

NBA really needs to shorten the time the playoffs take and maybe the first round should be best of 3, second best of 5, semis best of 5 and finals best of 7.

I don't know. I think the NBA playoffs are pretty boring every year unless your team is in it until near the end. As a Spurs fan, probably only one of their four title runs had any excitement whatsoever for the casual observer. (and I'd say even that statement is a reach)

Que the "Money money money money......MONEY" song. This will never happen for $$$$$$ reasons.

i'm sure it would be more enjoyable for 95% of the fans on this board if their team was still in it.

Hence my point that the NBA playoffs are boring as hell for the casual basketball fan.

I'd rather watch even the NHL playoffs over the NBA playoffs as a casual observer. The NBA playoffs are just flat out boring.

This is an excellent observation. Does anybody know if a study has been done to compare the interest level of games when a city has a team involved vs not?

I heard one time that the ratings for NBA games are higher in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston, etc. when their teams are involved. Is that true?

The playoffs suck this year because of the Rockets are not involved. Quite the domino effect.

If your sample size is me, that's definitely true. I tune out about the time the Spurs get eliminated every year.

Yeah it gets old watching the Lakers waltz in there every year. I liked it in the Kareem, Magic and Worthy days when they had to fight Boston or Detroit but now it sucks.

waltz? the OKC series was closed out on a game winning shot on the road. the first 3 games of the jazz series were won by an average of less than 5 points, including a nailbiter game 3 that came down to 2 missed GW shots.

The lowest rated nba finals in modern history was the spurs-nets series. No, the Spurs are not a good draw nationally.

...unless you are just saying ratings are higher in markets where the home team is playing.. If so, yeah, duh.

Orlando/LA would be a good series. Both teams are playing great right now with multiple scorers. I dont see that series sucking.

Sarcasm meter is broken for some of you.

I just realized that right now the only thing going on for a few days in the NBA will be the ongoing LeBron meltdown. Game 7 isn't until Sunday, and Suns-Lakers doesn't start until Monday

This is crazy - it's going to be 24/7 LeBron coverage the rest of the week, unless Kobe says something interesting.

Suns-Spurs was a great series of hard fought games. Suns just barely came out on top each time.

After listening to Tim Donahy interview on Dan Patrick, and his discussion that the league encouraged extending the playoffs, I've wondered if the NBA is feeling more heat to call the playoffs straight up, thus more sweeps and 5 game series than in the past.

The East maybe had 3 teams worth a crap all year and one of those is showing itself to be a gutless fraud right now...and I'm not so sure that Cleveland isn't too far behind Orlando in that department. Boston has punched both of those teams in the mouth and ORL/CLE just took it and said "thank you, may I have another?"

The West was a case of the teams being evenly matched early on leading to poor matchups style-wise in later rounds...plus, Denver just being nearly worthless without George Karl there to keep those knuckleheads in line. We'll never know if they would have given the Lakers a better go of it in round 2, but they couldn't have done any worse than the Jazz. The same could be said of Dallas against Phoenix.

All of that to say, yeah, these later rounds have been snooze-fests...hopefully Phoenix will provide at least some token resistance tonight. Orlando is closer to Tragic than Magic at this point...Boston will have to be completely asleep at the wheel to not close it out tomorrow.

Heheh...I owe Orlando an apology. I'll take my crow fried. They've at least shown they have some pride, which is something I wasn't sure was in them after getting assjacked in Game 3.

Now Boston has some pressure on them to close it out at home, potentially without Kendrick Perkins.

I've lost a lot of interest with no Houston and Dallas getting eliminated in the 1st round.

Now I'm rooting for Phoenix because they aren't the Lakers and Orlando because they aren't the Celtics

To 1,000,000 touchdowns...and beyond
