Is Cuban latest PR stunt against the rules ? Seems like a dumb thing to risk.

Well if the NBA follows the rule to the letter, he'll probably get fined at least. It's pretty clear that what he said isn't allowed based on the rule.

He has to say those things now because for him to acquire LBJ things have to work out perfectly.

Not going to happen though so I'm really not concerned.

For Gradin...

quote:
Cuban's comments could fall under the NBA's tampering rules

quote:
Penalties outlined in the memo could include suspension, prohibition of the offending team from hiring the person being tampered with, forfeiture of draft picks and individual and/or team fines of up to $5 million.

Personally, it would be freaking hilarious if the league says they can't go after Lebron because of their idiot big-mouth owner.

Yet David Stern can say on national TV that he hopes LeBron stays in Cleveland. What a joke.

jakester....the official memo from the nba stated "your organization".

tell me, what team organization is david stern a part of?

david stern could call lebron james and his mom dirty sloots and say he wants him to go the the clippers or the oakland raiders to fall into oblivion and nothing would happen to him. don't forget, he's the envelope freezer. he can do whatever he wawnts.

I think jake was pointing out the hypocrisy in the fact that all the team's players, coaches, and owners are under constant scrutiny and get fined for even the slightest aside, while Stern and his Gestapo don't even follow their own rules.

I seriously hate the way the NBA is run. They make mind numbing decisions constantly.

That's a reach to say he was tampering. Cuban spoke in broad-based terms. Maybe because of his history, they give him a tiny fine. But they would probably have to fine every NBA team if they were playing straight.

But there's no way the NBA will bar LBJ from coming to Dallas or Mavs lose a draft pick. The Timberwolves were dirty dealing under the table to get Joe Smith. It was light years difference to this.

Professional sports reporting:

50% of sports stories are about the corporate business of sports
25% police blotters and eyewitness statements related to crimes committed by athletes
24% sex lives of superstars
1% about actual sports

We're about to see another great finals between two teams at the tops of their game, and much of the news is about what city one of the losers will be living in next.

The playoffs are still going on???

I'll be the first to admit, I was looking forward to these conference finals matchups.

However, since Amare cannot remember how to play defense, and Rashard Lewis completely forgetting how to shoot a basketball, along with the WTF of Howard....

...I could care less about what happens from this point.

When did Amare know defense?
