Just wondering if anyone has heard anything lately.

We need a big like Splitter in a bad way...

Coach Bud is watching him play in Spain right now. I'm sure they've made some sort of contact. That's all I've heard recently. The draft should tell the story though. If we draft a big, it means we're not confident in signing Splitter. If we draft a guard, I think we can be certain that Splitter is coming.

It should also be noted that Splitter won the finals MVP as well as Spanish League MVP.

I'd say either Hill or Parker are out of here.

Splitter has always struck me as Oberto beta. I wonder if he'll have the impact anywhere near what his hype has been. I doubt he'll be much of an improvement over Dyess, but what do I know?

Between Hill and Parker, Parker is probably gone. Sounds to me like Hill is Pop's new favorite player. I hate to see it happen though, that Hill/Parker/Ginobili lineup, when healthy, is a very nice backcourt rotation.

The one thing he lacks is Oberto/Manu communications.

He is a much more talented player than Oberto and quicker also.

Sources are saying he is the "best" player in Europe right now...

I am feeling good about the SPURS chances.

The problem with the Spurs trading Parker is this: It doesn't really make them any deeper or better.

Having Parker/Hill/Manu is good for them because any one of the three can be injured, and if the other 2 are healthy the Spurs are still solid in the back court.

If the Spurs trade away Hill or Parker, you are left with this scenario when either Ginobili or your PG are injured: really $ h i t t y back court.

i would take devin harris and #3 pick for tp all day. it would be nice to groom two big men under timmy.

It depends what they get for him.

All of the YouTube videos I've seen of the dude indicate that he has some quicks - runs fast, plus fast hands and fast feet.

Why move Parker or Hill? I would keep them both as long as possible. You need two good PGs and I agree with the earlier post about having Hill/Parker/Ginobli out there at the same time. (By the way, Ginobli is not a PG in case you were counting him as a PG).

Still think Splitter will disappoint. Remains to be seen I guess. Just for reference, Marc Gasol was considered "the best big man in Europe" not too long ago. I don't see Splitter being much more than a newer, younger version of Rasho/Nazr/Elson/Oberto. I doubt he'll be better than McDyess.

i'll take splitter and j anderson. we got a shooter and a big man. basically what we needed. if rj follows the trend of 2nd year players under pop, we should be fine. with the old coyote leaving la, we should be in the mix.

I was not making the point that Splitter ought to be as good as Gasol. I was making the point that a "great" European big man is about equivalent to an "okay" NBA big man.
I don't doubt Splitter could come in and earn a spot. I just think the expectations are a bit high and people think he's going to be the second coming of Pau or something.

Pau was nothing special when was leading memphis nowhere. when Pau was in Memphis putting up better numbers than his brother, texags said he was "ok". nothing special. led them nowhere.
