My biggest problem with Gay is that he hasn't gotten much better in the last two years. Over the last three, he has been completely stagnant.

I remember at the end of the 2007-2008 season, I had two players on my radar that I thought would explode based on how they finished that season: Rudy Gay and Danny Granger. Both were put up around 20, 6, and 1 steal per game. Both were young.

For my fantasy draft the next year, I had a late first round pick and I chose Rudy Gay over Danny Granger. Huge mistake.

I agree with GS in thinking that Rudy Gay already has hit the ceiling on his potential.

Supposedly Johnson told the Knicks that he has NOT been offered the max 6-year deal from Atlanta.

Turns out Gay's contract is for 5 years, 82 mil. I guess Chris Wallace just redeemed himself!

For next year, Rudy Gay's deal still doesn't put him in the top 22 in salaries ($13.3 MM a year).

For players not on their rookie contract, Rudy Gay is one of the top 25 players in the league.

This reminds me of how Bonzi Wells "went off" against the Spurs in a contract year playoffs series not too long ago ('06?), and then basically got fat and stupid for the remainder of his career. Here's hoping his new contract will have a similar effect on Randolph.
