Will this help their case with Lebron?

Other rumor on SAEN is that Amare mentioned the Knicks trying for Tony Parker and Carmelo Anthony as both are FAs next year.

I think the knicks are more likely to get anthony next year than lebron this year. I bet lebron stays in cleveland and wad goes to chicago.

It's a so-so move IMO. I'm curious to see how effective he is without Nash. He seems to be much more effective when he's getting the ball on the move.

It's good in the sense that they at least locked in one of the bigger FAs and wont be left with nothing. An he is already out there campaigning to bring more players to the Knicks.

I think Parker eventually ends up there.

I also think the knicks picks will end up being great pick ups for the Rockets.

I think Amare for Lee is basically a wash. Lee's a better defender and rebounder. Amare is a better offensive player.

Unless Lebron goes there or they somehow get a trade for Melo--Both 100-1 longshots at this point, the knicks are still an awful basketball team and arguably worse than they were last year.

The absolute worst thing they could do though is panic now and tie up cap space for the next 5 years on Mike Miller or someone like that. Eventually a star will want to come to NY and turn the franchise around. CP3, Deron Williams, Derrick Rose, Tony Parker, who the hell knows who it will be. But someone big will eventually sign there if they have the patience not to do something stupid

It's an ok signing imo. I would much rather have Amare for 5 years than Joe Johnson for 6 for instance. He could also do well with D'Antoni again.

Who knows what Lebron does. Personally I think he should go to the Knicks because it would be the place he could be bigger than anywhere else if he wins. Go to Chicago, you are in Michael's shoes. Go to Miami, Wade is already the man there so you will have to unseat him and that situation could blow up over time. Stay in Cleveland, the people in Ohio will love you but you will never be what you could be in a big market.

I hate the Knicks and I don't really care much for Lebron personally (love the talent but he is just another spoiled, arrogant, uber-athlete). Still, if I were Lebron and had that kind of ego where I wanted to truly be King of all sports I would go to NY. There is no other place where if he wins multiple titles he will be as big as if he goes there. Can you imagine for instance a NY/LA Finals with Lebron vs Kobe? I hate everyone involved but that doesn't mean I can't see how that would be the biggest thing ever in the NBA if it happened.

A Lebron/Amare Knicks team would be one of the best ESPN highlight teams ever until they get bounced in the 2nd round.

If LBJ wants a legit chance to win a title in the near future he has two options: NJ or CHI.

If Bosh follows him to either of those places they'd have to be on a short list for title contender favorites.

Of the teams with cap space that is. Not considering S&T options.

Amare alone does not make me nervous about the Knicks. I am glad right now we still have the option to trade picks with Knicks next draft and the rights to their 2012 1st round pick.

Amare by himself does not make the Knicks relevant again. We'll see if they can follow it up with another big name this year or next. I expect Amare's numbers to drop without Nash. He was a matchup nightmare for the Spurs so I'm glad he's out of the conference.

I disagree an Amare/Lebron Knicks team gets bounced in the 2nd Round every year. Lebron is the best player in the game and he alone can get a team into the 2nd round. The Knicks have absolutely no concerns about the luxury tax and there are players that will line up to play with Lebron in NYC. They are no more than a piece or two away with Lebron and Amare, especially with Boston fading and the rest of the East being fairly weak (depending on what Wade and Bosh do). Put a decent PG, a decent 5, and a few shooters around those two and they will be very hard to stop.

Talent wise I'm not convinced that Bosh is much better (if at all) than Amare and I'm not convinced that Bosh isn't just a "really good player on a bad team" vs a true superstar. At least Amare has won in the playoffs.

Who's coming with him? If they fill out that team with the right mix of 2nd tier free agents at good deals (I'm giving them too much credit), then they could make their way back to the playoffs. I think Lebron, Wade, JJ are off the table for the Knicks at this point and Melo can't come for another year.

The more big name free agents that migrate West to East, the better.

Hope to see Boozer, Scola, Korver, Haywood, Outlaw, and more head East.

I think the only East to West signing has been Hakim Warrick.

Lebron was bounced in the second round about 60 days ago.

Landing LBJ is a longshot for the Knicks. Even if they do, they'll still need to make some pretty savvy roster moves before I see them getting past round 2.

Especially if the Bulls manage to upgrade as predicted.

Lebron had an elbow injury that reduced his ability to play at a high level. He's been to the NBA Finals already basically on his own.

Lebron single handedly beat a pretty salty, championship experienced Detroit team just 3 years ago to win a conference title--with pretty much no help.

He will get his eventually. It's only a matter of time.

And Amare does make the Knicks better, just not significantly. More than anything, this kills the Suns chances of being relevant anytime soon.

He seemed to play through the elbow pain enough to log a triple-double in an elimination game.

Lebron is a great player. He has "carried his team" to the Finals exactly once (and got swept). He's been bounced in the second round and the semis since then.

It depends on who they can add around those two, should it come to pass.

People said the same thing about the Celtics after they acquired Ray Allen, Garnett, and added them to Pierce. There will be players to fill out the roster if the super-studs are there.

Well as mentioned, it obviously depends on who else gets added.

My off the cuff remark about about Lebron/Amare Knicks being a second-round-and-out team is obviously not considering they swing a trade for someone like Tony Parker or Monta Ellis, whose names have been thrown around.

If it is just Amare the knicks are not much better than last year. And look for Amare to disaprear a lot of nights on a 35 win team.
